The purpose of the study is to assess the impact of European integration processes in Ukraine on the development of investment potential and institutional maturity of rural communities. As a result of the analysis of strategic documents of all rural communities of Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv and Rivne regions, a low level of institutional capacity to attract investments was established. Based on the analysis of the strategies, programs, and investment passports of 79 united territorial communities, it is found that only 39.2% of them have approved development strategies, and 45% of communities have socioeconomic development plans. To assess the challenges and threats arising during the process of implementation of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement, the author's methodology was developed and the method of expert assessments was applied-the survey involved 75 experts from 20 regions of Ukraine. It is found that there are much more opportunities (59) than threats (17) at the level of rural communities. Such findings, together with low community activity in attracting investment and developing investment attractiveness, indicate that decentralization and new opportunities arising from European integration processes are still underutilized and are a sign of low institutional maturity of rural communities.
Abstract. Technology and innovation are viewed as triggers in the move towards greener economy. Commercialisation of green technologies does not only provide the key drivers for economic growth but are also essential for the world to be sustainable. Th e central idea of this paper is to address the query of what is known about green technological outputs. In particular, we look at the existing body of literature related to commercialization of green technologies, identifying the most active scholars, journals and relevant publications. Th e paper provides some answers to the questions of top journals with the papers related to commercialization of green technology, a number of articles with the highest number of citations, or the list of countries with the most of studies in green technologies. Th e paper has both academic and policy-making value . From the academic perspective the study identifi es the scholars who have contributed most to the research on commercialisation of green technologies. For policy-makers, this paper is a report on the existing practices and positive experience in responsible leadership. Additionally for practitioners, the study shows which subject areas create profi table growth in compliance with environmental sustainability and good corporate citizenship.
Innovations play an important role in achieving competitiveness and long-term economic growth at all levels of the economic hierarchy. More recently, the role of sustainability-oriented innovation in achieving economic growth has become equally important. However, there is a scientific debate about the possibility of effective commercialization of sustainability-oriented innovations. The existence of such scientific debate, as well as the absence of citation-based systematic literature reviews, became a prerequisite for conducting a comparative literature review of research on the effective commercialization of conventional and sustainability-oriented innovations. The purpose of the study is to conduct a comparative review and analysis of research on the commercialization efficiency of conventional and sustainability-oriented innovations. The analysis was conducted on the basis of a citation-based systematic literature review method. The results show that sustainable innovation research is more focused on the relationship between commercialization and firm performance. In the field of conventional innovations, research trends have shifted from studying the impact of technology transfer office (TTO) size, staffing, compensation practices to how strategic factors affect the efficiency of commercialization. In the area of sustainability-oriented innovation, the issues of the strategic orientation impact cause the most sustained interest, while managerial concerns and the stringency of environmental regulations have been actively explored in the past few years. It was revealed that the commercialization efficiency of sustainability-oriented innovations is characterized by so called sustainability-oriented criteria. A distinctive output criterion for commercialization efficiency of sustainability-oriented innovation is the improvement of the firm’s image. In addition, content analysis identified possible research directions to be investigated.
Project managers often run similar projects in a different way under the influence of particular factors. It is important to discover these factors, which may affect projects` success. The objectives of this study are to examine cultural differences in project running styles of three Asian countries with different level of economic development-Israel, Japan and Kazakhstan, and identify how their styles affect project success. The authors use PMPQ (Project Management Planning Quality) model for comparing the performance of project planning processes, organisational support level and the level of project success. The study investigates 681 private projects from different fields like engineering, software, communication and service. The results determine typically strong and weak areas of the chosen countries in performing planning quality, different level of project success due to national cultural differences. Japanese managers pay significant attention to time and cost scheduling and have better results than Israeli and Kazakh managers. Kazakh managers show the worst result in cost overrun (25.96%) and low result in schedule overrun (32.9%). The study reveals common and specific knowledge areas for each countries` projects and helps measure their effect on project success.
In the modern world, due to the growing environmental threats, each state has the task of reducing the anthropogenic impact on the environment. Many countries, especially developed ones, have been seriously studying this problem and are finding solutions. However, in developing countries the situation is different, along with the growth of the economy, environmental damage is growing. The purpose of this article is to evaluate the impact of the existing measures aimed at reducing emissions and to assess the readiness of the regions in Kazakhstan for the transition to green economy. In the article, the effect of adoption of the Concept of transition to green economy on CO2 emissions in Kazakhstan was assessed. Using the synthetic control method, the panel data of
Measuring competitiveness in Сentral Asian post-socialist countries is problematic as many well-known metrics systems fail to warn about bankruptcy risks sufficiently early or at all. With 2013-2017 data, we have compared data on the selected poultry sector companies operating in Kazakhstan to analyze their competitiveness, while financial analysis metrics provided us with the financial performance data. In particular, we have analyzed two publicly traded companies-Alatau-Kus JSC and Ust-Kamenogorskaya pticefabrika JSC, and two non-publicly traded companies-Alel-Agro JSC, and Sever Ptica JSC. These are compared with the largest Czech poultry meat producer Vodnanska drubez, JSC. Firstly, we measured competitiveness through bankruptcy and creditworthiness models and compared competitiveness as compared to financial situation of the main competitors at that market. To measure competitiveness, we used such indicators as IN99, IN01, IN05. We show the IN models can be beneficial in the case of the post-socialist countries. By using
