People with blindness or low vision utilize mobile assistive tools for various applications such as object recognition, text recognition, etc. Most of the available applications are focused on recognizing generic objects. And they have not addressed the recognition of food dishes and fruit varieties. In this paper, we propose a smartphone-based system for recognizing the food dishes as well as fruits for children with visual impairments. The Smartphone application utilizes a trained deep CNN model for recognizing the food item from the real-time images. Furthermore, we develop a new deep convolutional neural network (CNN) model for food recognition using the fusion of two CNN architectures. The new deep CNN model is developed using the ensemble learning approach. The deep CNN food recognition model is trained on a customized food recognition dataset. The customized food recognition dataset consists of 29 varieties of food dishes and fruits. Moreover, we analyze the performance of multiple state of art deep CNN models for food recognition using the transfer learning approach. The ensemble model performed better than state of art CNN models and achieved a food recognition accuracy of 95.55 % in the customized food dataset. In addition to that, the proposed deep CNN model is evaluated in two publicly available food datasets to display its efficacy for food recognition tasks.
This study aimed to identify the correlational relationship between academic self-efficacy and academic achievement. To this end, a questionnaire of self-efficacy was adopted, whose validity and reliability were high. Next, the sample group, which included 43 students of the Department of Special Education, was asked to respond to the questionnaire. Furthermore, there was a positive correlation between academic self-efficacy and academic achievement. Considering these results, several recommendations and suggestions have been presented.
The present study aimed to explore the anxiety level of the children with autism in Qatar. It aimed to explore whether there is any statistically significant difference between the anxiety levels of the autistic children which can be attributed to (gender, school stage, school type or family type). The researchers adopted a descriptive analytical approach. The sample consists from 250 female and male children with autism. Those children were selected from public and private schools in Qatar. The scale of the present study was developed based on the anxiety scale for children with autism spectrum disorder (ASC-ASD). The latter scale was developed by Rodgers et al. (2016). It consists from 24 items. It collects demographic data about (gender, school stage, school type and family type). The researchers concluded that the anxiety level of the children with autism in Qatar is low. They concluded that there isn’t any statistically significant difference between the anxiety levels of the children with autism which can be attributed to (gender or school stage). They concluded that there are statistically significant differences between the anxiety levels of the children with autism which can be attributed to (the school type or family type). The latter differences are for the favor of the children in private schools. They are for the favor of the children who live in families in which one parent or both parents passed away. The researchers recommend integrating the children with autism into society through engaging those children in extra-curricular activities.
This study aimed to reveal the most important problems facing students of the College of Education from their point of view and its relationship to some variables. The study used two tools: the first is the open interview (focus group), and the second is a questionnaire designed by the researcher. It contained 65 items distributed on six axes: costs and assignments, tests, academic professor, academic registration and guidance, the content of study materials, and finally the classrooms have been verified as being truthful and consistent. The results showed that the problems related to the classroom were the most prominent facing students, while the problems related to the academic professor were the least important from their point of view. The order of importance of the problems varied according to the specialization taught by female students, and by the different program registered with it, as well as by the different status of the female student, whether she was a full-time student or on the job. Faculty of Education has to ensure that the students are progressing and achieving high performance during the program with the less problems they face. If students do not meet these criteria/expectations, measures need to be taken to support them and help them improve their skills, knowledge, dispositions and achievement. If students do not meet standards, the College might not get full accreditation, and will have an Area For Improvement. This means that the College has to take other measures to improve students’ achievement to receive full accreditation.
The present study aimed to explore the extent of practicing management by love in the inclusive schools in Qatar from the perspective of administrators at these schools. The sample consists from 342 administrators who were selected through using the random clustering sampling method. A descriptive approach was adopted. A questionnaire was used to meet the study’s goals. It was found that the extent of practicing management by love in the inclusive schools in Qatar is moderate. It was found that there is a statistically significant difference–at the statistical significance level of (a ≤ 0.05)–between the respondents’ attitudes which can be attributed to gender. The latter differences are for the favor of males. It was found that there isn’t any statistically significant difference –at the statistical significance level of (a ≤ 0.05)–between the respondents’ attitudes which can be attributed to experience, or academic qualification. The researchers recommend conducting more studies that aim at shedding a light on management by love and its impact on the performance of educational institutions.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
