The demographic situation in recent decades has been characterized by a progressive increase in the proportion of older age groups in both developed countries and the Russian Federation. The main contribution to morbidity and mortality of people over 60 years of age is made by diseases of the circulatory system. Early development and progression of cardiovascular diseases contributes to kidney dysfunction, often developing against the background of morphological changes occurring with age in the kidneys, called “senile kidney”. Reduction of glomerular filtration rate in elderly patients is not mandatory and in most cases occurs as a result of an existing pathological process. The combined effect of changes in GFR and cardiovascular disease on the prognosis of older patients remains poorly understood, which determines the relevance of the study of chronic kidney disease in geriatric patients.
The SARS-CoV-2 virus is the causative agent of the COVID-19 pandemic. The spectrum of clinical manifestations ranges from asymptomatic to critical, life threatening. COVID-19 is known to be a multi-organ disease, not just the respiratory system. It also becomes obvious that neurological and psychological disorders that occur during the acute phase of infection can persist in the postmorbid period, which dictates the need for rehabilitation measures. This literature review is devoted to the analysis of data on the pathogenesis, clinic, rehabilitation of neurological, psychological manifestations of COVID-19 (neuro-COVID), prospects for further research.
Scientific evidence on the secretory immunity of the oral mucosa in herpetic infections and their impact on the clinical features of the disease are mixed. The purpose of our study isimmunological comparison of patients with acute and chronic herpes infection. Our clinical and laboratory examination was based on 33 patients with acute exacerbation of chronic recurrent herpetic stomatitis, 35 patients with head ganglionitis herpes viral etiology and 26 persons of the control group. The results indicate big violations of secretory immunity of patients with herpes infection (decreased IF-a in typical viral ganlionitis and elevated LF – for recurrent stomatitis).
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
