Background The working conditions of bus drivers are difficult; they lead to occupational diseases and require careful study, particularly in Ukraine. The objective of the article is the description of occupational health risks of passenger bus drivers that lead to deteriorating health. Methods The risk assessment was performed using a modified Risk Score method, which allowed determining the generalized level of danger to the driver's health. The hygienic hazards level was assessed as based on Stevenson's law, which was generalized later. Results Based on the modification of the Risk Score method, it was possible to depart from expert assessments method of the risk level and calculate the general indicator based on the degree of dependence of the impact on the human body on its intensity, proposed by V. Minko. This allows objective determining of the impact of hygiene hazards on the health of the driver and to predict the occurrence of occupational diseases associated with the cardiovascular system, musculoskeletal system, and partial or complete disability due to the accumulation of emotional fatigue. The hazard assessment was carried out for three brands of passenger buses common in Ukraine, in which the driver is exposed to the dangers of fever, vibration, noise, harmful impurities in the bus cabin, and emotional load. Conclusion The health of drivers in the cabins of passenger buses is most affected by hygiene hazards: fever, vibration, and emotional stress. The generalized level of risk is calculated by the modified method of Risk Score is 0.83; −0.99, −0.92 respectively.

Summary According to a survey published by the Brazilian National Transportation Confederation, recently, the Brazilian truck fleet has been increasing about 84.3%, accounting to, in 2016, a total value of 2 684 227 vehicles. Despite this growth, the quality of the road network did not increase proportionally to the necessary infrastructure for agricultural production flow. This work aims to infer, by the analysis of occupational exposure, the vibration levels acting on truck drivers, analyzing the vibrational degree for health risk and comfort levels. The whole‐body vibration (WBV) in trucks of different models and capacities, at some speeds and pavement types, are evaluated using a portable vibration analyzer with triaxial accelerometers. The daily exposure to vibration A(8) is evaluated and compared with the occupational exposure limits defined by a National Regulation Standard, with measurement procedures defined by an Occupational Hygiene Standard, and level requirements defined by an International ISO Standard. It is concluded that the degree of comfort is higher for heavier vehicles with large wheelbase. Relative to the health risk conditions, the study arrives at the same conclusion; the degree of risk increases as the vehicle' speed and pavement's longitudinal irregularity increase. Regarding human exposure to vibration, the vehicles in their actual working situations presented a vibration scenario where the exposure limits are exceeded, resulting in unhealthy working conditions.

Drivers of mining dump trucks are a group of highly qualified specialists whose training requires considerable time and financial costs. We investigate the working conditions, general and occupational pathology of the dump truck drivers of the open apatite mines in the Arctic. We carried out the analysis of working conditions and health status of 475 dump truck drivers and 534 miners of other occupations of open apatite mines, as well as the information on the occupational pathology of that workers group in 2007–2017. It has been established that the typical feature of health disorders in the dump truck drivers is the frequent development of obesity (22.9 % of workers), and occupational pathology which is in most cases due to imperfect technological processes (67.3 %), leading to an increased severity of labor and exposure to whole-body vibration. The most prevalent occupational diseases of drivers are vibration disease (36.5 %), radiculopathy (25.8 %) and mono-polyneuropathy (20.1 %). The risk of occupational pathology among truckers is higher than that one for miners of other specialties: RR = 1.35; DI 1.04-1.74. Measures aimed at health preservation of dump truck drivers should include the correction of food and work regimes, the improvement of technological processes during the transportation of ore raw materials targeted at reducing the severity of labor and harmful effects of whole-body vibration.
