What makes manufacturing companies more desirous of recycling?

Abstract: Purpose -The purpose of this paper is to specify the treatment options of manufacturing companies with the specific emphasis on recyclable wastes. The options are focused mainly on recycling instead of taking recycling issue as a sub-function of environmental policies or reverse logistics disposition strategies. This paper also aims to find out if there are some relationships between those options and some characteristics of manufacturing companies. Design/methodology/approach -A survey methodology is structur… Show more

“…• Green design: Green design or design for environment is a helpful, emerging tool to improve companies' environmental performance and help organisations close the supply chain loop by addressing product functionality while simultaneously minimising life-cycle environmental impacts (Zhu et al, 2008). Performance of manufacturing companies depends on treatment of recyclable waste (Basaran, 2013). • Green manufacturing: Green manufacturing is defined as manufacturing processes which use inputs with relatively low environmental impacts, which are highly efficient, and which generate little or no waste or pollution (Atlas and Florida, 1998).…”
