A discrepancy between the accepted pluricentricity of the German language and its subvariation on the one hand, and the dominance of the Germany‐only approach in teaching materials on the other hand was pointed out in Neuland (2006). Similar discrepancies were identified by researchers of German as a second language, such as Zeman (2009), who noted that while no one in linguistic circles doubts the concept of pluricentricity anymore, there are hardly any applications found in the teaching of German as a second language.…”
