“…The bacterial strains were cultured in the following semi-synthetic broth medium: 9 g Na 2 HPO 4´2 H 2 O, 6 g glucose, 5 g Peptone Bacto D, 5 g yeast extract, 0.5 g L-arginine HCl, 0.5 g Tween-80 in 1000 ml distilled water. The pH of the medium was adjusted to 7.8±8.0 by adding 1 M NaOH (Feist et al, 1976). The strains were inoculated into the broth from agar cultures [5 g LAB-LEMCO powder (Oxoid, Basingstoke, UK), 2 g yeast extract, (Oxoid), 2 g Pepton Witte (Reanal), 12 g bacteriological peptone (Oxoid), 7 g NaCl, 1.3 g Na 2 HPO 4´7 H 2 O, 12 g bacteriological agar (Oxoid) in 1000 ml distilled water, pH 7.6±7.8) incubated at 37°C for 24 h. Subsequently the bacteriological purity of the cultures was checked by inoculation onto a solid medium.…”
