One of the first transgenic traits that has been inserted into commercial crops and being widely used is tolerance to glyphosate herbicide. This technology has provided significant benefits and conveniences to farmers due to the efficacy of glyphosate. However, for a better weed control and prevention of weed resistant biotypes the use of two or more mechanisms is recommended practice. The combination of herbicides is the subject of several studies especially evaluating weed control, aside which the selectivity of the culture is equally important. In this context, this study aimed to evaluate the responses of transgenic corn (RR2) subjected to the application of different herbicides. For this purpose, an experiment was conducted with eight treatments using glyphosate, atrazine and nicosulfuron, sole or in combination along with a control treatment (without herbicide). The experiment was performed twice (first in Piracicaba -SP then Palotina -PR) in greenhouse with different corn hybrids. Several variables related to the performance were analysed such as height measurements, stem diameter, chlorophyll index, fresh and dry shoot, root dry mass. The results showed that nicosulfuron should be positioned cautiously in new RR2 corn hybrids, as it may damage the development of the plant.

ResumoO objetivo do presente trabalho foi avaliar a seletividade dos herbicidas nicosulfuron e a mistura de foramsulfuron + iodosulfuron methyl sodium a diferentes híbridos de milho Agroeste (AS 1545, AS 1548, S2 709, AS 32, AS 3466 e AS 1533). O delineamento experimental utilizado foi o de blocos ao acaso, com 7 tratamentos e 5 repetições para cada híbrido. As doses dos herbicidas (em g i.a. ha -1 ) foram: foramsulfuron + iodosulfuron methyl sodium: 22,5 + 1,5; 45,0 + 3,0 e 90,0 + 6,0 e nicosulfuron: 30, 60 e 90. Avaliou-se a fitotoxicidade, além de parâmetros relativos aos componentes de produção da cultura e produtividade. Os cultivares de milho testados possuem tolerância diferencial aos herbicidas utilizados; o híbrido S2 709 teve sua produtividade diminuída quando o herbicida foramsulfuron + iodosulfuron methyl sodium foi aplicado nas doses de 45,0 + 3,0 e 90,0 + 6,0 g i.a. ha -1 ; o híbrido AS 1533 teve sua produtividade reduzida quando os herbicidas foramsulfuron + iodosulfuron methyl sodium e nicosulfuron foram aplicados nas doses de 90,0 + 6,0 g i.a. ha -1 e 120 g i.a. ha -1 , respectivamente. RESUMO -Objetivou-se com este trabalho avaliar a tolerância de híbridos de milho ao nicosulfuron e relacionar estudos de seletividade desse herbicida conduzidos em casa de vegetação com estudos desenvolvidos em campo. Em casa de vegetação, o experimento foi conduzido no delineamento de blocos ao acaso, em arranjo fatorial 33 x 3, sendo o primeiro fator constituído por híbridos de milho e o segundo por doses do herbicida (0, 30 e 60 g ha -1). Após aplicação do herbicida, avaliou-se a massa seca de parte aérea das plantas. Em campo, o experimento foi conduzido no delineamento de blocos ao acaso, em arranjo fatorial 5 x 3, em que os fatores eram constituídos por cinco híbridos de milho, selecionados a partir dos resultados em casa de vegetação, e três doses herbicidas (0, 30 e 60 g ha). Após aplicação do herbicida, foram avaliados o crescimento e a produtividade dos híbridos. Por meio dos resultados obtidos em casa de vegetação, foi possível agrupar os híbridos em diferentes níveis de tolerância ao herbicida. Com relação à produtividade em campo, o híbrido B 761 apresentou redução significativa (17,4%) na dose de 60 g ha -1 do nicosulfuron. Ao avaliar a seletividade do nicosulfuron para híbridos de milho, é necessária a etapa de campo para verificar se os tratamentos herbicidas têm influência sobre a produtividade de grãos. Palavras-chave: inibidores da ALS, seletividade, sulfoniluréias, Zea mays.ABSTRACT -This work aimed to evaluate tolerance of thecorn hybrids to nicosulfuron and to relate selectivity studies carried out under greenhouse conditions to field studies. Greenhouse experiments were carried out in a randomized block design, in a 33 x 3 factorial scheme, with the first factor being the corn hybrids and the second factor, the herbicide rates (0, 30 and 60 g ha -1 ). The effect of the treatments was evaluated based on shoot biomass. Under field conditions, a randomized block design experiment was carried out in a factorial scheme 5 x 3 (five corn hybrids, selected from the greenhouse studies, and three herbicide rates (0, 30 and 60 g ha -1 ). Field results were evaluated based on crop development and yield. Based on the greenhouse experiments, corn hybrids were grouped according to tolerance to nicosulfuron. In relation to crop yield in the field, nicosulfuron at 60 g ha -1 decreased crop yield by 17.4% for the hybrid B 761. When evaluating nicosulfuron selectivity to corn hybrids, field stage is necessary to verify whether the herbicide treatments have influence on grain yield.
