Madrasah diniyah is a very special Islamic education system in Indonesia that can be implemented from primary, secondary, and even higher education levels. This study aimed to explain the integration of the madrasah system in Islamic Religious Universities in the framework of strengthening religious moderation. The research method used was qualitative with a symbolic interactionalism approach. The main informants in this study were eleven people from the elements of the chancellor, vice-rector 1, head of Madrasah diniyah (Mudhir), teachers/ustadz, and students at State Islamic Institute (IAIN) Tulungagung selected by purposive sampling technique. The research implementation procedure was technically carried out by the stages of data collection, reduction, presentation, and analysis. This study found that the integration of the Madrasah diniyah system into the learning system at IAIN Tulungagung is quite effective in increasing students' religious knowledge. The implementation of Madrasah diniyah needs the support of all stakeholders in higher education. The obstacles faced need to be minimized in terms of infrastructure improvement and participant readiness. The Madrasah diniyah system which is integrated into the learning system in universities is a breakthrough in the world of higher education. With the effective integration of the Madrasah diniyah system into the learning system at Islamic religious universities, the implementation of Madrasah diniyah requires the support of all stakeholders. Therefore, the Madrasah diniyah system integration model is a model that can be developed in other Islamic religious universities.

“…Religious morality has become the identity of Islamic Educational Institutions under the auspices of pesantren, not to mention SMA Al-Azhar Menganti Gresik, the process of student learning emphasises the strengthening of religious morality as a student's foundation. Subaidi emphasised the importance of instilling a religious spirit in students ICASI as a prelude to wasathiyah thinking (14) The presence of structured and measurable programmes run by the school is the most powerful support system (15) As in the SMA Al-Azhar Menganti , one of the strengths in overcoming the framework of student radicalism is the implementation of a pesantren-based curriculum ( 16), ( 17) such as Burda prayers every morning, congregational dhuha prayers, congregational dhuhur prayers, learning to read and write the Qur'an at the start of each study, pesantren-style yellow book study in special programmes, and so on (11), At the end of each semester, the material required to complete ibadah amaliyah (SKIA) at each level is controlled, as well as the consolidation of self-help materials through seminars and training at the beginning of the introduction of the student school environment (18), the existence of a school-family coordination programme aimed at strengthening religious spirit through student-parent collaboration. By radicalising educational institutions, this study would like to see an overview of the development of radicalism ideology in educational institutions, as well as the response of teachers in forums across Religious Secondary Schools (SMA) and National Secondary Schools (SMK) in East Java. Sekolah Menengah Al-Azhar Menganti Gresik, one of the educational institutions based on the pesantren system, has held a programme to restore religious moderation as a solution to radicalism. The emergence of the aforementioned programme has piqued the interest of researchers in conducting an objective analysis of school strategies for promoting religious moderation among students. This study employs a qualitative approach with a case study approach at SMA Al-Azhar Menganti Gresik, as well as data collection techniques such as observations, interviews, and documentation. Miles and Hubarman analysis was used to perform objective analysis. Objectively, the study’s findings indicate that the process of reviving religious moderation requires strong support from educational stakeholders in private schools, specifically foundations. The importance of the top-down model in implementing rehabilitation programmes on religious moderation, as Giddens and Singh explain, determines the success of educational institutions in combating the radicalism movement. Religious moderation is a national concern in realizing a harmonious and peaceful life of the Indonesian people. This research was conducted to answer three questions, namely: what is the background of the need for religious moderation? what is the concept of religious moderation? and how to implement religious moderation? This research was conducted at UIN Walisongo Semarang. The data was obtained through interviews with university leaders, managers of religious moderation house, lecturers in Islamic and religious moderation courses, and students studied these subjects. The data collected were analyzed descriptively qualitatively. The results show that: (1) Religious moderation education is a preventive measure, in order to suppress the occurrence of acts of radicalism and terrorism, which often use youth. (2) Religious moderation education at UIN Walisongo is carried out holistically in order to create a harmonious and peaceful academic atmosphere under the constraints of the house of moderation. (3) The implementation of religious moderation is carried out through temporary meetings such as seminars and training, and 'Islam and religious moderation' lectures which are applied to all students.
