Bu araştırmanın amacı, sınıf öğretmenlerinin sınıf ortamında öğrencilerin istenmeyen davranışlarına ilişkin tepkilerini saptamak; bunları farklı boyutlarıyla analiz edip değerlendirmektir. Bu temel amaç çerçevesinde, 4 ilköğretim okulundan 43 sınıf öğretmeninin dersi izlenerek, öğrencilerin istenmeyen davranışlarına ilişkin öğretmen tepkilerinin neler olduğu, okul, sınıf ve ders değişkenlerine göre bu tepkilerin değişiklik gösterip göstermediği ortaya konulmaya çalışılmıştır. Ayrıca, öğretmen tepkilerinin, öğretmenlerin cinsiyetine, mezun oldukları okullara ve kıdemlerine göre değişip değişmediğine de dikkat edilmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda, sınıf ortamında öğrencilerin istenmeyen davranışlarına ilişkin sınıf öğretmenlerinin gösterdikleri tepkiler, okul, sınıf ve ders düzeyinde farklılıklar gösterdiği gibi, bu tepkilerde öğretmenlerin cinsiyeti, mezun olduğu okul ve kıdemlerinin de etkili olduğu saptanmıştır. “…The common coping strategies are that encouraging the student to participate in the lesson, making eye contact, explaining the right behavior and the results of the misbehavior, talking after class, verbal warning and using various education materials to attract the student's attention. According to the findings of the study conducted by Yılmaz and Şahinkaya (2010), the strategies mostly used are also applied by the participants in the present study. They are described as listening to the student and communicating clearly, looking of the reasons of the problem, trying to solve the problem, warning through eye contact an advising.…”

The purpose of this study is to find out the strategies that EFL instructors apply to cope with undesirable behaviors of language learners at the tertiary level. The study was conducted with 20 EFL instructors working in the preparatory school at a university in 2017-2018 academic years. The data was gathered through a survey including 10 open-ended questions. Content analysis technique was used to assess the data. The results of the study reveal that EFL instructors apply 12 coping strategies towards the undesirable behaviors of language learners at tertiary level. The instructors use body language, verbal and facial expressions to warn their students. In addition, keeping silent, asking a question, finding out the reason of the undesirable behavior and the needs of the disruptive students, raising awareness, increasing motivation, talking in person, attracting attention, and ignoring the undesirable behavior are the other coping strategies.

A indisciplina nas escolas e os comportamentos desafiadores dos alunos constituem uma das principais preocupações dos professores, administradores e pais. Esta investigação visa comparar as percepções de indisciplina em salas de aula do ensino primário e secundário em estabelecimentos de ensino públicos e privados de Angola e Portugal. Participaram no estudo 1600 professores: 800 professores angolanos (493 homens e 307 mulheres) e 800 professores portugueses (181 homens e 619 mulheres). Os professores angolanos reportaram alguns tipos de comportamentos com maior frequência, como intervir fora de vez, agressão verbal, desrespeito ao professor, enquanto que os professores portugueses indicaram o comportamento de desatenção como o mais frequente. As percepções de indisciplina diferem também em função do tipo de escola, do género e experiência profissional. Considerando que Angola saiu recentemente de décadas de guerra, enfrenta problemas cujo impacto na disciplina nas salas de aula não é suficientemente conhecido. Pretende-se que este estudo seja inovador em Angola, e que possa assumir uma dimensão transcultural, nomeadamente através da comparação de algumas variáveis e tipos de indisciplina com países como Portugal.
