The Potency of Flavonoid Compounds in water Extract Gyrinops Versteegii Leaves as Natural Antioxidants Sources

Abstract: Flavonoids can provide antioxidant effects by preventing the formation of ROS, directly capture ROS, protect lipophilic antioxidants and stimulate the increase of enzymatic antioxidants. Flavonoids are phenolic compounds that are widely found in medicinal plants, one of which is Gyrinops versteegii leaves. In this research to determine the potential of flavonoids in water extract Gyrinop versteegii as one source of natural antioxidants was investigated. This research begins with maceration of Gyrinops verstee… Show more

“…This morphology character should be added with characters that could be contributed to the diversity of Gyrinops agarwood tea product. Phytochemical character (Parwata et al 2018) and molecular character in the form of DNA fingerprinting (Siburian et al 2017) are two potential additional basis data that could fulfill this requirement. The phytochemical profile had an essential role in determining the variation of agarwood tea products from Aquilaria malaccensis (Batubara et al 2020;Surjanto et al 2019) and Gyrinops versteegii (Wangiyana et al 2021a).…”

“…The characteristic aromatic ring C=C, was shown by the absorption at the wave number 1528,65 cm -1 and, 1708,04 cm -1 was carbonyl ring stretch C=O . This is a chromophore group that is common in flavonoids in the conjugated bond system (Parwata et al, 2018). Based on the results, the fK isolate was assumed as flavonoid compounds 3,5,7,4 'tetrahydroxy flavonol, and 3,5,7,3,4' penta hydroxy flavonols.…”

“…There is also a flavonoid compound in the agarwood extract that can provide antioxidant effect by preventing the formation of ROS, directly capturing ROS, protecting lipophilic antioxidants and stimulating the increase of enzymatic antioxidants [18]. In addition, different concentrations of agarwood essential oil have scavenging effects on DPPH free radicals, hydroxyl free radicals and superoxide anion free radicals, and with the increase of the concentration of agarwood essential oil, the antioxidant capacity gradually increases, with obvious correlation [19]. The analysis results also showed that both young leaves and mature leaves of agarwood have strong antioxidant activity, and the two kinds of leaves have the same use value in terms of chemical content and antioxidant capacity, which can reduce inflammatory reaction to a certain extent [20].…”
