The computation of the geoid model in the state of São Paulo using two methodologies and GOCE models

Abstract: The purpose of this manuscript is to compute and to evaluate the geoid model in the State of São Paulo from two methodologies (Stokes' integral through the Fast Fourier Transform -FFT and Least Squares Collocation -LSC). Another objective of this study is to verify the potentiality of GOCE-based. A special attention is given to GOCE mission. The theory related to Stokes' integral and Least Squares Collocation is also discussed in this work. The spectral decomposition was employed in the geoid models computatio… Show more

“…The first surveys were carried out in the 1970s by institutions such as the Instituto de Astronomia, Geofísica e Ciências Atmosféricas of Universidade de São Paulo (IAG-USP), Observatório Nacional (ON), Petrobrás, and the Anglo-Brazilian Gravity Project, carried out in conjunction with the University of Leeds and the IBGE (Castro Junior et al, 2018). Years after, thematic project number 06/04008-2, of the Fundação de Amparo a Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo (FAPESP) gravimetric densification surveys for the production of an advanced geoid model were carried out (Guimarães et al, 2014).…”

“…Finally, the third model for this comparison is a local model, the GEOID-SP model (Guimarães et al, 2014) comparison, the one computed with the first methodology has been considered. The reference geopotential model is GO_CONS_GCF_2_DIR_R5 (Bruinsma, S. L. et al, 2013) up to degree and order 200.…”
