The Antimicrobial resistance and investigation of Yersinia ruckeri from rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) farms in the Eastern Black Sea Region

Abstract: Öz: Bu çalışmada, Doğu Karadeniz Bölgesi'nde kültürü yapılan gökkuşağı alabalığı (Oncorhynchus mykiss) çiftliklerinde hastalıklı balıklardan izole edilen Yersinia ruckeri'nin varlığı araştırılmıştır. İnkübe edilen bakteri izolatlarında hareket muayenesi, katalaz, oksidaz ve OF besi yerinde oks… Show more

“…Y. ruckeri is one of the main pathogens that causes disease in rainbow trout farms in Turkey, and although many different studies have documented the spread and the effects of P. fluorescens and Y. ruckeri (Kayis et al, 2009;Altun et al, 2010;Timur et al, 2011;Türk et al, 2013;Balta et al, 2016), the findings of this study are the first observation of these pathogens together.…”

“…Among these products, the most commonly used antimicrobials in aquaculture; florfenicol, oxytetracycline and sulfadiazine/trimethoprim. Numerous reports have been reported on the development of antimicrobial resistance in bacteria isolated from aquaculture (Balta et al, 2010;Balta et al, 2016;Duman et al, 2017;Durmaz et al, 2012;Onuk et al, 2017;Saticioglu et al, 2019). Aquatic and other environmental organisms play a significant role in developing, acquiring, and spreading antimicrobial resistance (Fletcher, 2015;Taylor et al, 2011).…”

“…The use of fish vaccines has been widespread in the eastern Black Sea region of Turkey. Yersinia ruckeri that used to be frequently isolated from bacterial monitoring of this region (Lasee, 1995;Balta et al, 2016) has been either isolated or rarely isolated in the recent years (Kayış et al, 2017;Bingöl, 2018). Besides, the widespread use of fish vaccines has reduced the unnecessary use of antibiotics in fish farms.…”
