Ternary Quantum Dots in Chemical Analysis. Synthesis and Detection Mechanisms

Abstract: Ternary quantum dots (QDs) are novel nanomaterials that can be used in chemical analysis due their unique physicochemical and spectroscopic properties. These properties are size-dependent and can be adjusted in the synthetic protocol modifying the reaction medium, time, source of heat, and the ligand used for stabilization. In the last decade, several spectroscopic methods have been developed for the analysis of organic and inorganic analytes in biological, drug, environmental, and food samples, in which diffe… Show more

“…Figure 4 shows a summary of the different methods used in making QDs. In the figure, top-down methods involve strategies based on the size reduction of bulk materials, while bottom-up methods QDs are synthesized using chemical precursors (23). Please do not adjust margins…”

“…In the figure, top-down methods involve strategies based on the size reduction of bulk materials, while bottom-up methods QDs are synthesized using chemical precursors. 23 This category can be subdivided into the vapour phase and wet chemical methods. In this review, we will mainly focus on wet chemical methods.…”

“…The respective Cb-QDs can be synthesized using one of the two major approaches: top-down or bottom-up (Bruno et al 2021 ; Muñoz et al 2021 ; Valizadeh et al 2012 ). The top-down approach employed macroscopic materials such as coal, graphene, and diverse natural products from various plant parts including leaves, fruits, and stems etc.…”
