The objective of this study was to evaluate the grain yield and the economically optimal water depth which reflects the maximum technical efficiency of the common bean crop. The experiment was conducted in greenhouse, in Alegrete -RS, from February to May 2016. A completely randomized design was used, consisting of five water replacement treatments (25, 50, 75, 100 and 125% crop evapotranspiration -ETc) and four replicates. Based on the obtained results, both water deficit and water excess directly affected the final grain yield of the crop. Maximum grain yield was 3,554.1 kg ha -1 , obtained by applying 492.72 mm (100% ETc). On the other hand, the economically optimal water depth was estimated at 91.2% ETc, indicating that water depths above this value are not suitable for maximum technical efficiency in the common bean crop under these conditions. It was concluded that the water depth equivalent to 100% ETc maximizes grain yield for the region of Alegrete-RS, and irrigation is considered a solution in the water supply to the common bean crop during critical periods.Lâmina ótima econômica e produção de grãos de feijão submetido a distintas lâminas de irrigação R E S U M O O cultivo do feijão apresenta importância mundial, tanto no que se refere ao desenvolvimento econômico, quanto ao caráter social. O trabalho foi realizado com o objetivo de avaliar a produção de grãos e a lâmina ótima econômica que reflete a máxima eficiência técnica da cultura do feijão. O experimento foi conduzido em casa de vegetação, em Alegrete -RS, no período de fevereiro a maio de 2016. Utilizou-se um delineamento inteiramente casualizado, composto por cinco tratamentos de reposição de água (25, 50, 75, 100 e 125% da evapotranspiração da cultura) e quatro repetições. Através dos resultados obtidos, permitiuse observar que tanto o déficit hídrico, quanto o excesso de água, afetaram diretamente na produção final de grãos da cultura. A máxima produção de grãos foi de 3554,1 kg ha -1 , aplicando-se 492,72 mm (100% da evapotranspiração da cultura). Em contrapartida, a lâmina ótima econômica foi estimada em 91,2% de reposição da ETc, indicando que lâminas acima desse valor não são adequadas visando à máxima eficiência econômica da irrigação, para a cultura do feijoeiro. Deste modo, conclui-se que a lâmina que representa 100% da evapotranspiração da cultura maximiza a produção de grãos para a região de Alegrete, RS, sendo a prática da irrigação considerada uma solução no suprimento de água para a cultura do feijão, nos períodos críticos.

The aim of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of potassium phosphites for the control of anthracnose and the mode of action of these products on common bean plants against Colletotrichum lindemuthianum, comparing it with the standard resistance inducer acibenzolar‐S‐methyl. The protection of plants against anthracnose was evaluated in greenhouse after treatment with potassium phosphites (Phosphite A and B, 5.0 ml/L), acibenzolar‐S‐methyl (0.25 g/L), or no treatment (control). Two sprayings of the treatments were performed, respectively, at V4 stage (three trifoliate leaves) and at the R5 stage (flower buds present). The inoculation with C. lindemuthianum was performed 5 days after the first spraying. Phosphite formulations A and B reduced the severity of anthracnose by 68.7% and 55.6%, respectively, and the presence of phosphites in the leaf tissues were detected at concentrations between 1 and 3 mm by 7 days after spraying. These same concentrations of phosphites reduced the mycelial growth of C. lindemuthianum in vitro by 15.0% to 25.7%. In addition, the activities of defence enzymes and the levels of phenolic compounds and lignin were assessed. Phosphite treatments enhanced the activity of various enzymes, including superoxide dismutase, peroxidase, chitinase, and β‐1,3‐glucanase, and increased the lignin and a small increase in the levels of soluble phenolics. This study provides evidence that phosphite treatments control anthracnose by acting directly on C. lindemuthianum and by inducing the production of defence responses.

RESUMO: O feijão (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) é um produto de grande importância na alimentação humana devido as suas excelentes propriedades nutricionais, sendo uma das mais tradicionais fontes de proteína consumida. No entanto, se os processos pós-colheita aplicados a esta cultura forem realizados de forma inadequada podem comprometer essas propriedades. Objetivou-se com o presente trabalho descrever o comportamento da secagem dos grãos de feijão cultivar IPR Tangará, por meio do ajuste de diferentes modelos matemáticos aos dados experimentais de secagem, determinar as propriedades termodinâmicas, bem como o coeficiente de difusão efetivo e a energia de ativação do processo. Os grãos de feijão foram coletados com teor de água inicial de aproximadamente 30% (b.u., base úmida), e submetidos à secagem nas temperaturas de 40, 45, 50, 55 e 60 ºC, em condições controladas. Aos valores de razão de umidade dos grãos de feijão foram ajustados nove modelos matemáticos, utilizados para a representação do fenômeno de secagem de diversos produtos agrícolas. Conclui-se que apenas os modelos de Page, Midilli, Dois Termos, Logarítmico, Thompson, Aproximação da Difusão e Valcam são adequados para a representação da secagem dos grãos de feijão cultivar IPR Tangará; o coeficiente de difusão efetivo aumenta com a elevação da temperatura do ar de secagem; os valores de entalpia e entropia específica são inversamente proporcionais à temperatura do ar de secagem, enquanto que a energia livre de Gibbs aumenta com a elevação da temperatura do ar. DRYING KINETICS OF BEANS GRAINS ( IPR TANGARÁ CULTIVAR)ABSTRACT: Bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) is a product of great importance in human diet due to its excellent nutritional properties, being one of the most traditional consumed sources of protein. However, if the post-harvest processes applied to this crop are inadequately performed it may compromise these properties. In view of this crop importance and the consequences of poorly conducted postharvest processes, the objective of this study was to describe the behavior of bens from cultivar IPR Tangará drying. Thus, different mathematical models were adjust to experimental drying data as the thermodynamic properties, effective diffusion coefficient, and process activation energy were determine. The beans were collected with an initial water content of approximately 30% (w.b., wet basis), and subjected to drying temperatures of 40, 45, 50, 55 and 60 ºC, under controlled conditions. The moisture ratio values of bean grains were adjusted by nine mathematical models that are used to represent others agricultural products drying phenomenon. ThePage, Midilli, Two Terms, Logarithmic, Thompson, Diffusion Approximation, and Valcam models are suitable to represent the drying process of bean cultivar IPR Tangará.
