“…This range of MOE is consistent with that of Young's modulus from tensile tests of Moso (Amada and Untao, 2001;Nogata and Takahashi, 1995;Shao et al, 2010). The range of densities of the Guadua specimens, roughly 500 to 1000 kg/m 3 , was higher than that of the Moso and Tre Gai specimens.…”

“…Since Moso bamboo is the most important species commercially, most studies of mechanical properties of bamboo have been done on Moso. Nogata and Takahashi, Amada et al, and Shao et al are a few to study axial tensile properties with respect to this gradient, by testing tensile specimens from slices at different locations in Moso culms (Amada et al, 1997;Amada and Untao, 2001;Nogata and Takahashi, 1995;Shao et al, 2010). These studies consistently find that the axial Young's modulus ranges from around 5 to 25 GPa.…”

“…Therefore, the combination of two given materials and natural fibers produces a stronger and more corrosion-resistant composite material. It also improves the stiffness, strength, and moisture-resistant behavior of the composite (Li et al 2002;Yao and Li 2003;Van der Lugt et al 2006;Obataya et al 2007;Biswas and Satapathy 2010;Shao et al 2010;Porras and Maronan 2012;Verma and Chariar 2012;Yeh and Lin 2012). There are also reviews on bamboo research findings (Rassiah et al 2013.…”

“…2014). The manufacturing process, mechanical behavior, and performance of laminated bamboo lumber have been previously studied (Obataya et al 2007;Shao et al 2010;Zhu et al 2011). Aimed at higher efficiency and mechanical performance of bamboo-based composite material, a new product of bamboo scrimber has been explored, of which the hot-press technology, glue immersion, and process parameters were studied (Zhang et al 2008;Wang et al 2013;Yu et al 2014).…”
