Show more

“…These results are associated with different performances of the animals and price of the supplied feed (CARVALHO et al, 2015). The treatment without addition of PAM had the lowest amount of 0.31 per animal and replacing 30% of PAM in the diet had the highest economic return ($ 4.14 per animal).…”

“…This variable indicates a greater proportion of leaves in forage canopy. Carvalho et al (2015) stated that a greater amount of leaves reflects in a highly selective and preferential consumption by sheep, which select leaves rather than stems for being more nutritious and suitable to their needs. Figure 1 displays the proportions of leaf blades, stem, and senescent material in plants of the three pre-grazing height treatments.…”

“…Pre Animal consumption has a positive correlation with forage availability (CARVALHO et al, 2015;GONTIJO NETO et al, 2006), therefore, forage supply may impair selective consumption and prehension. The forage availability and supply were significantly lower in pastures managed at 25 cm pre-grazing height, which can be attributed to the lower consumption of animals.…”

“…However, this value is considered not to limit the activity of rumen microorganisms, and this activity is suitable only to keep animals, which may compromise the digestibility of highly fibrous forage (CARVALHO et al, 2015).…”
