RESUMEN Introducción:El cuidado al final de la vida deber estar marcado por la revaloración de la dimensión espiritual. Objetivo: Comprender el papel de la espiritualidad en la vida de las familias que tienen un ser llegando al final de su vida. Materiales y Métodos: Investigación cualitativa, realizada con quince familiares de pacientes con enfermedades graves atendidos en la red de atención primaria de Sao Paulo, Brasil, a través de entrevistas semiestructuradas. Los datos fueron organizados y analizados de acuerdo a las figuras metodológicas de la técnica del Discurso del Sujeto Colectivo. Resultados: La espiritualidad tiene un papel único para las familias, ya que ayuda a dar sentido a las experiencias de vida, especialmente aquellos involucrados directamente con la enfermedad y la muerte. Sin embargo, no encontraron espacio para la expresión de estos temas con los profesionales de la salud, con quien deberían tener un vínculo y corresponsabilidad para el cuidado guiado por la integralidad. Discusión y Conclusiones: Estas familias reconocen la espiritualidad mientras como elemento fortalecedor sobre las dificultades que enfrentan con la enfermedad, pero dependen en gran medida de la disponibilidad de personal para aumentar su experiencia. Palabras clave: Espiritualidad; Religión; Familia; Cuidados Paliativos; Muerte.ABSTRACT Introduction: End-of-life care should be marked by the re-appraisal of the spiritual dimension. Objective: This work sought to understand the role of spirituality in the lives of families with a loved one in end-oflife situation. Materials and Methods: This qualitative research was conducted through semi-structured interviews with 15 relatives of patients with serious diseases cared for in the primary health care network in São Paulo, Brazil. The data were organized and analyzed according to the methodological figures of the Collective Subject Discourse technique. Results: Spirituality represents a unique role for the families, as it helps to give meaning to life experiences, above all those directly involved with disease and death. However, they find no space to express those issues with the health professionals, with whom they should have a bond and co-responsibility for care based on integrality. Discussion and Conclusions: These families recognize spirituality as a strengthening element against difficulties confronted with the illness, but strongly depend on the health staff's availability to increase their experience.

“…This case report presents the results obtained with four classes, totaling 22 students and five professors, in the academic years of 2012 and 2013. There was a predominance of female students (20) and only two men; the age ranged from 21 to 25 years old (21 students), and only one was 30 years old. The five professors had teaching experience in undergraduate courses with application of active teaching-learning method, but had no specific training in thanatology, except the proponent of the method, who presented previous experiences in end-of-life care of people with cancer.…”

This study aims to understand the perception of mothers of children with cancer from playing. This was a qualitative study, carried February and April 2016. Six mother were interviewed, who accompanied their children during treatment at a non-governmental organization (NGO) that functions as a support house for children and adolescents with cancer. From the organization of the empirical material, two categories emerged: The mothers' perception on the playful during the oncological treatment and the spirituality adopted by the mothers after the discovery of the diagnosis. The conclusion is that playfulness fulfills a therapeutic function assisting the child in his/her development, providing joy and pleasure. Mothers, on the other hand, find in faith the strength not to lose hope in the continuity in the caring process. Thus, it is evident that mothers seek the best for the child's well-being, in an attempt to minimize the suffering generated by the experienced situation.
