The study was based on the development of production functions that characterize the activities of agricultural enterprises in the regions of Russia. Official statistical information on 65 regions of Russia for 2017 and 2018 was used. The conducted research made it possible to identify factors (investments in fixed assets and wages of employees) that affect the volume of production in the agricultural sector in the regions of Russia and suggest using two-factor production functions of high quality to describe this influence. It is proved that the economy of the country's regions has not reached saturation with agricultural products and there are significant reserves for further development of this sector. The developed production functions are effective management tools that allow assessing the level of use of financial and labor resources. The acquired new knowledge and tools for assessing the activities of agriculture in the Russian regions are of scientific and practical importance. They can be used in research of the agricultural sector of the economy, monitoring of production volumes, in determining the needs for resources necessary for the development of agriculture, substantiating plans and programs for its development.

The rapid development of innovative technologies and the rapid change in the social environment necessitate the search for tools for the formation of professional competence that meet the modern requirements of training students in vocational educational institutions. Purpose of the article: analysis of the implementation of foresight sessions in the professional self-development of students. Methodology: the article presents the dynamics of student participation in foresight sessions, an increase in the number of students over several years, as well as the results of a survey of participants in foresight sessions to determine the advantages of the method. Results: Conducting foresight sessions expands the possibilities of forming the professional competence of future specialists.

The global trend of sustainable development of the state economies is associated with a systematic approach that provides for comprehensive and interconnected effective business development, environmental protection, and social decisions. The concept of “sustainable development” was first conceived in 1983 by the World Commission for South Africa, was further developed in 1983 by the UN World Commission. In 1987 this concept was reflected by UN World Commission in the report “Our Common Future” to the World Commission. Despite such a long period of existence of the concept of sustainable development, many issues related to the implementation of this concept remain unresolved. One of the most important issues in assessing the sustainable development of socio-economic systems is the choice of criteria. In general, sustainable development of the economy is primarily associated with a person. Thus, the study considers a methodological approach to calculating a consolidated composite index for assessing the sustainability of the development of a national socio-economic system. The purpose of the study was to investigate the main strategies of social and economic development, key challenges and directions of such development, both at the state and private business level. The strategy of an open economy with the active participation of the state is considered on the example of supporting five fundamental sectors of the economy: energy, transport, water supply, sanitation, and forestry. The influence of globalisation on the sustainable development of socio-economic systems through regionalisation is shown – the peculiar political and economic mechanisms of structural transformation aimed at increasing the efficiency of the economies of the countries participating in the integration association.
