Aims: Fig plants produce fruits in branches of the year, which grow after emission of buds from the leaf armpits. And the lopping system is one of the most common practices among the green fig farmers to increase production. Thus, the present work aimed to improve the physical, chemical and productive characteristics of fig trees in the semiarid region of Brazil. Study Design: A complete randomized block design was used in a 3x2 factorial scheme (three pruning intensities: 5, 10 and 15 cm in length; and two lopping systems: with and without lopping), constituting six treatments with four replicates. Each experimental plot consisted of five plants, but only the three central plants were used. Place and Duration of Study: The experiment was conducted in the didactic orchard of the Federal Rural University of Semiarid (UFERSA), Mossoró, RN. Methodology: The treatments were: 5 cm pruning without lopping; 5 cm pruning with lopping; 10 cm pruning without lopping; 10 cm pruning with lopping; 15 cm pruning without lopping; 15 cm pruning with lopping. The following variables were analyzed: fruit weight (g), fruit length (cm), fruit diameter (cm), pulp firmness (N), soluble solids content (ºBrix), titratable acidity (%), vitamin C content (mg ascorbic acid 100 g-1 pulp), fruit yield (number of fruits plant-1 and kg plant-1). Data were submitted to analysis of variance by the F test at 5% probability and means were grouped using the Tukey test at 5% probability. The analysis was performed using R software version 3.5.2. Conclusion: Pruning intensity 10 cm in length and the use of lopping system influenced the physical, chemical and productive characteristics of fig plants in the Brazilian semiarid region.

RESUMOEste experimento teve como objetivo avaliar os efeitos da aplicação em cobertura de diferentes doses de cinzas vegetais e esterco bovino, no desenvolvimento e na produção de videiras cultivar Bordô. As doses utilizadas foram 0, 750, 1.500 e 2.250 g planta -1 de cinzas vegetais e 0, 5, 10 kg planta -1 de esterco bovino em esquema fatorial 4 x 3 (doses cinzas x doses esterco). Em dois anos de experimento foram avaliados o diâmetro de ramos e do tronco, o índice de área foliar, a produtividade, o peso médio dos cachos, o número de cachos e os teores foliares de macro e micronutrientes. Houve efeitos positivos dos tratamentos para todas as variáveis estudadas sem, contudo, alterar o status nutricional da planta em termos de teores foliares dos elementos. De modo geral, a dose de 5 kg planta -1 de esterco acrescido de 1.500 g planta -1 de cinzas vegetais permitiu, para a maioria das variáveis obter os melhores resultados com incrementos no índice de área foliar (38-71%) e na produtividade (106-167%). As duas fontes podem ser usadas de maneira a suprir as exigências nutricionais de videiras em produção necessitando, porém, de uma suplementação com outras fontes. Bordô using wood ashes and cattle manure in organic system ABSTRACT This assay aimed to evaluate the effects of the superficial application of different doses of wood ashes and cattle manure, on vegetative growth and production of grapevines cv. Bordô. The doses used were 0, 750, 1,500 and 2,250 g plant -1 of wood ashes and 0, 5 and 10 kg plant -1 of cattle manure, in factorial scheme 4 x 3 (doses of ash x manure doses). During two years, the following variables were evaluated: diameter of the trunk and canes, leaf area index, yield, mean weight of cluster, number of clusters and macro and micronutrients contents in leaf. There were positive effects of the treatments for all variables, without, however, changing the nutritional status in terms of contents of elements in leaves. In general, for the majority of the variables, the treatment with 5 kg plant -1 of cattle manure added to 1,500 kg plant -1 of wood ashes, allowed to achieve the best results, with increments in leaf area index (38-71%) and yield (106-167%). The two sources can be used to supply nutritional demands of grapevines in production, needing, nevertheless, a supplementation with other sources.

The application of plant growth regulators can promote better development of the seedlings, essential for the success of fruit growing. The current study aims to evaluate the use of plant growth regulators in fig tree seedlings 'Roxo de Valinhos'. The experiment was carried out in a suspended nursery covered with plastic, using rooted cuttings of the cultivar Roxo de Valinhos. Four applications were made with a commercial product, known as Stimulate®, at doses of 0, 50, 100, 150, and 200 mL L -1 . Using a randomized block experimental design, the study was subdivided into plots (doses X days of the last application [after 0, 7, 14 and 21]). The following traits were evaluated: stem and root length; stem diameter; root volume; leaf number; leaf area; stem, leaf and root dry mass; specific leaf area, leaf weight ratio; leaf area ratio; and chlorophyll total. Results indicated that the product promoted greater seedlings development at a dose range from 100 to 150 mL L -1 . Different dose levels did not vary according to the days after product application. Furthermore, using such technique enabled seedlings of higher quality and vigour.
