Show more

“…This is particularly the case in central Tunisia, with studies dedicated to the Wadi Merguellil basin (Nazoumou & Besbes, 2000;Feuillette et al, 2003;Cudennec et al, 2005;Kingumbi et al, 2005Kingumbi et al, , 2007Ben Ammar et al, 2006;Leduc et al, 2007), and to the network of small basins recently drained by hill reservoirs (Albergel et al, 2004;Nasri et al, 2004b;Zammouri & Feki, 2005;Jebari et al, 2007;Lajili-Ghezal, 2007;Nasri, 2007).…”

“…These may lead to the activation of some processes and compartments only during extreme events, such as aquifer recharge (Nazoumou & Besbes, 2000;Ben Ammar et al, 2006;Leduc et al, 2007), or of a cascade system (Nasri et al, 2004a;Nasri, 2007;Romagny & Riaux, 2007).…”

“…A review of a number of alternative approaches to the modeling of the recharge mechanism in semi-arid areas is discussed by many researchers in the literature (Allison, 1988;Rushton, 1988 Kirchner, 1990;Sophocleous, 1991;Kruseman, 1997;Sorman et al, 1997). Much less work has been done on artificial groundwater recharge (Latinopoulos, 1981;Dillon and Liggett, 1983;Ezzeddine and Besbes, 1991;Kruseman, 1997;Nazoumou and Besbes, 2000). In this study, the available data for groundwater artificial recharge modeling includes observed water table fluctuations and observed streamflows.…”

“…Stored reservoir water can be released after the flood event so that the water may infiltrate at the maximum rate. Operations of water released from dams have been made in the center of Tunisia with the aim of artificial groundwater recharge (Nazoumou and Besbes, 2000). Other operations of artificial recharge with lower Journal of Hydrology 314 (2005) volumes have been achieved in the Nadhour-Sisseb basin (Northeast of Tunisia) where the aquifer is often intensively exploited.…”
