ABSTRACT:The aims of this research was to estimate genetic parameters of Eucalyptus macarthurii progenies and to predict genetic gain for different selection methods. In order to evaluate the gains, eleven progenies tests were studied. These tests were installed in 1997, in randomized blocks design, in two sites, with 5 replicates of five plants per plot. The progenies were evaluated, from the first to the eighth year, regarding the variable diameter at breast height (DBH). The genetic parameters were estimated using the mixed model procedure (REML/BLUP). The selection of the progenies for establishing a Clonal Seed Orchard was based on the analysis by location, joint analysis and on the harmonic mean of the relative performance of genotypic values (HMRPGV) with different selection intensities among and within families: three, four, five and six individuals per progeny with the selection of the top 30 individuals, taking into consideration the effective population size ( e N ). The best age to carry out the selection was seven years old, however, early selection can be made from age two onwards. Each environment characteristics influenced progenies phenotypic expression, so the higher gains in balance with e N , were estimated with the selection of individuals for each site, and the selection of five or six individuals per progeny. GANHOS GENÉTICOS POR DIFERENTES MÉTODOS DE SELEÇÃO EM PROGÊNIES DE Eucalyptus macarthurii EM DIFERENTES AMBIENTES RESUMO: O objetivo desta pesquisa foi estimar parâmetros genéticos de progênies deEucalyptus macarthurii e estimar ganhos genéticos por diferentes métodos de seleção. Foram utilizados testes de onze progênies, instalados em 1997 em blocos ao acaso, em dois ambientes, com 5 repetições de 5 plantas por parcela. Os indivíduos foram avaliados desde o primeiro ao oitavo ano, quanto à variável diâmetro à altura do peito. Os parâmetros genéticos foram estimados pela metodologia de modelos mistos (REML/ BLUP). A seleção de progênies para formação de Pomar Clonal de Sementes baseou-se na análise por local, análise conjunta e no método da média harmônica do desempenho relativo dos valores genéticos (MHPRVG) com diferentes intensidades de seleção entre e dentro de famílias: três, quatro, cinco e seis indivíduos por família, com seleção dos 30 melhores indivíduos, considerando-se o tamanho efetivo populacional ( e N ). ABSTRAT:Calophyllum brasiliense is present in a wide natural distribution range in Brazil and its monopodial growth, with a rectilinear stem and a moderately dense timber has attracted the attention from the logging industry in recent decades. In the meantime, the lack of efficient rescue and vegetative propagation methods of adult plants has been a narrowing condition for the selection of superior genotypes in breeding programs of the species. Therefore, we evaluate epicormic shoots induction methods and the rooting cuttings of 14 year-old Calophyllum brasiliense trees. From this scope, three methods of epicormic shoots induction were evaluated: coppicing, girdling and partial girdling. We evaluate the number of produced sprouts and the percentage of sprouted trees at 06, 12 and 15 months' after the experiment installation. Results have indicated the feasibility of Calophyllum brasiliense vegetative rescue by cuttings method using epicormic shoots induced by coppicing and girdling. In contrast, partial girdling was not effective in epicormic shoots emission. Concerning adventitious roots, the sprouting technique had no influence in the rooting of cuttings, showing variation among the different stock plants. INDUÇÃO DE BROTAÇÕES EPICÓRMICAS E ESTAQUIA DE Calophyllum brasiliense RESUMO:Calophyllum brasiliense apresenta ampla distribuição natural no Brasil e seu crescimento monopodial, fuste retilíneo e madeira moderadamente densa tem atraído o interesse da indústria madeireira nas últimas décadas. Entretanto, a carência em métodos eficientes de resgate e propagação vegetativa de material adulto tem sido um fator limitante na seleção de genótipos superiores em programas de melhoramento da espécie. Assim, objetivou-se avaliar métodos de indução de brotações epicórmicas e o enraizamento de estacas em árvores de Calophyllum brasiliense com 14 anos de idade. Para tanto, três métodos de indução de brotações epicórmicas foram implantados: decepa, anelamento e semianelamento. Avaliou-se o número de brotos produzidos e a porcentagem de matrizes brotadas aos 6, 12 e 15 meses após a instalação do experimento. Com as brotações resultantes, foram instalados três experimentos de estaquia, comparando o enraizamento adventício entre as diferentes matrizes e métodos de indução de brotações epicórmicas. Os resultados demonstraram a viabilidade do resgate vegetativo de Calophyllum brasiliense por estaquia utilizando brotações epicórmicas induzidas por decepa e anelamento do tronco. Em contrapartida, o semianelamento não foi eficiente na indução de brotações epicórmicas. Em relação ao enraizamento adventício, a técnica de indução não influenciou o enraizamento de estacas, apresentando variação entre as diferentes matrizes.

Neste trabalho, objetivou-se estudar a adaptabilidade de híbridos multiespécies de Eucalyptus em quatro ambientes do Estado do Rio Grande do Sul. Os ensaios foram realizados nas áreas da empresa CMPC Celulose Riograndense, nos Municípios de Minas do Leão (Horto Florestal Cambará), Encruzilhada do Sul (Horto Florestal Capivara), Dom Feliciano (Horto Florestal Fortaleza) e Vila Nova do Sul (Horto Florestal São João). No ano 2007 foi implantada uma rede de testes clonais com 146 clones de Eucalyptus, pertencentes a 34 diferentes espécies e, ou híbridos, em delineamento de blocos ao acaso com 30 repetições e uma planta por parcela (Single Tree Plot). Aos 3 anos de idade, foram mensurados o diâmetro à altura do peito (dap) e a altura total (Ht) das árvores dos experimentos. O incremento médio anual (IMA) foi calculado de acordo com o volume individual por clone e o estande de plantas no hectare na idade de avaliação do teste clonal. Concluiu-se que em um programa de melhoramento do eucalipto a análise simultânea de produtividade, estabilidade e adaptabilidade deve ser preferida em relação ao simples ordenamento de valores genotípicos. Na seleção simultânea, destacaram-se entre os melhores materiais genéticos do ordenamento, híbridos do tipo "three-way cross", formados por três diferentes espécies de Eucalyptus. Os híbridos mais promissores para a geração de clones superiores foram E. urophylla x (E. camaldulensis x E. grandis), E. grandis x (E. urophylla x E. grandis), E. saligna x (E. grandis x E. urophylla) e E. grandis x E. kirtoniana (E. robusta x E. tereticornis) e E. grandis x E. urophylla.
