Análise de crescimento em cultivares de alface nas condições do sul do PiauíObjetivou-se, com este trabalho, avaliar o crescimento de quatro cultivares de alface, nas condições do sul do Piauí, para recomendar os melhores para a região. O experimento foi realizado em casa de vegetação, em blocos casualizados, com avaliação em parcelas subdivididas no tempo, avaliadas em seis épocas (20, 24, 28, 32, 36, Growth analysis in lettuce cultivars in Southern PiauíThe aim of this study was to evaluate the growth and recommend the best one (s) of four lettuce cultivars in Southern Piaui. The experiment was carried out in a greenhouse with a randomized block design, with split-plot in time evaluation (20, 24, 28, 32, 36, 40 days after sowing -DAS), and the corresponding treatments to four cultivars (Americana Rafaela ® , Grand Rapids TBR ® , Crespa Repolhuda ® and Repolhuda todo ano ® ) with five replications. We evaluated leaf area; leaf number; stem diameter; shoot fresh mass; shoot, root and total dry mass and physiological indexes of growth analysis. The cultivars showed significant effect in the studied parameters. Under the submitted conditions, the Americana Rafaela ® and Repolhuda todo ano ® lettuce cultivars showed better performance and greater morphological and physiological indexes. The cultivars Americana Rafaela ® and Repolhuda todo ano ® can be grown under Southern Piaui conditions.

One of the problems of banana cultivation is the reduced number of productive commercial cultivars, with fruits adequate to market requirements. This paper aimed to study the genetic divergence among 15 banana cultivars by multivariate analysis and determine the relative importance of 35 agronomic and nutritional characteristics. The data were subjected to multivariate analysis of variance. For the application of Tocher Optimization grouping method, the Mahalanobis distance was used. The hierarchical method UPGMA and canonical variables analysis were also used. For the identification of the most important characteristics for dissimilarity, was used the Singh method. There was a higher mean dissimilarity to cultivate Terrinha followed by Marmelo cultivars and Mysore. The smallest measure of dissimilarity was found between the Nanicão and Prata-Graúda cultivars. The characteristics vitamin A content, starch percentage, total soluble sugars, sugars, non-reducing, antioxidant potential, fresh weight of pulp, plant height and fresh weight of the fruit are the most important in the estimation of dissimilarity, are soon to be prioritized in studies future.Key words: genetic diversity; Singh method; Musa spp.; variability Dissimilaridade genética e importância relativa de características em cultivares de bananeira por meio de análise multivariada RESUMOUm dos problemas do cultivo da bananeira é o número reduzido de cultivares comerciais produtivas, com frutos adequados às exigências do mercado. Objetivou-se estudar a dissimilaridade genética entre 15 cultivares de bananeira por análise multivariada e determinar a importância relativa das 35características agronômicas e nutricionais. Os dados foram submetidos à análise de variância multivariada. Para a aplicação do método de agrupamento de Otimização de Tocher, foi utilizada a distância generalizada de Mahalanobis. O método hierárquico UPGMA e a análise de variáveis canônicas também foram utilizados. Para a identificação dos caracteres mais importantes para a dissimilaridade, utilizou-se o método Singh. Verificou-se maior dissimilaridade média para a cultivar Terrinha seguida das cultivares Marmelo e Mysore. A menor medida de dissimilaridade foi encontrada entre as cultivares Nanicão e Prata-Graúda. As características teor de vitamina A, percentual de amido, açúcares solúveis totais, açúcares não redutores, potencial antioxidante, matéria fresca de polpa, altura da planta e massa fresca do fruto são as mais importantes na estimação da dissimilaridade, logo devem ser priorizados em estudos futuros.Palavras-chave: divergência genética; método de Singh; Musa spp.; variabilidade

Phenotypic characteristics for discrimination between advanced genotypes of Brachiaria ruziziensis

ABSTRACT. The aim of this study was to use multivariate methods and Pearson and partial correlations to disregard phenotypic characteristics that contribute little to differentiation between Brachiaria ruziziensis genotypes. Eighty-one genotypes of B. ruziziensis were assessed in completely randomized blocks with three replications. Ten phenotypic characteristics were assessed: plant height, leaf length, leaf width, sheath length, length of the flower stem, length of the inflorescence axis, number of racemes per inflorescence, length of the basal raceme, number of spikelets per basal raceme, and width of the rachis. The best traits for differentiation between genotypes were determined by assessing relative contribution to diversity, canonical variables, as well as Pearson and partial correlations. Four canonical variables were found to account for 57% of the overall variation, while plant height, sheath length, and number of racemes per inflorescence were considered traits that could potentially be disregarded in future assessments.
