As time goes by, information and communication technology continue to advance. Since the pandemic, the need for information and communication technology has risen to aid us in working and studying from home. One of the forms of information and communication technology is social media. Social media is where users can connect with other users in different regions, upload content as images or videos, express themselves freely, and get responses or reactions from other users (likes and comments). However, behind all those, social media can also be a place full of threats towards the personal data of its users. This study aims to analyze the awareness of higher education student social media users in the research field of Indonesia regarding personal data security. This research focuses on university students, Indonesia’s largest group of social media users, as the main respondents. The questionnaire questions were distributed online using random and snowball sampling methods for targeting student respondents. In this study, social media users were divided into active users (content creators) and passive users (using social media as a means of entertainment). The results show that active users upload personal data to benefit from it. In contrast, passive users are more aware of the use of personal data on their social media. This research also shows how they secure their data and their behavior on social media.

The use of smartphones in Nigeria has continued to increase daily and worsened during and after the Covid-19 pandemic that locked down even the developed nations. Like computers, smartphones keep the memory of users' details like account details and transaction histories including passwords of their social media platforms. The huge volume of data being stored by smartphones brings about an unlimited number of privacy and security challenges. That is, security threats perpetrated by malicious actors or hackers is proportional to the ubiquity and adoption of smartphone in Nigeria. Therefore, this study aims to assess the awareness level of smartphone users in Nigeria regarding privacy and security issues associated with smartphones. By so doing, the study surveyed smartphone users across the 36 states and the FCT in Nigeria. The study employed both quantitative and qualitative methods. The quantitative research approach was utilized for data collection. While the qualitative approach was leveraged for descriptive analytics. The analysis was performed using the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) to provide the graphical results. An existing mathematical model was therefore adapted and utilized to calculate the awareness level of smartphone users. The analytical outcome of the survey revealed that a considerable number of smartphone users in Nigeria are unaware of privacy and security issues allied to smartphones.

<span lang="EN-US">Half of the entire social media users in Indonesia has experienced cyberbullying. Cyberbullying is one of the treatments received as an attack with abusive words. An abusive word is a word or phrase that contained harassment and is expressed be it spoken or in the form of text. This is a serious problem that must be controlled because the act has an impact on the victim's psychology and causes trauma resulting in depression. This study proposed to identify abusive comments from social media in Indonesian language using a deep learning approach. The architecture used is a hybrid model, a combination between <a name="_Hlk99537661"></a>recurrent neural network (RNN) and long short-term memory (LSTM). RNN can map the input sequences to fixed-size vectors on hidden vector components and LSTM implemented to overcome gradient vector growth components that have the potential to exist in RNN. The steps carried out include preprocessing, modelling, implementation, and evaluation. The dataset used is indonesian abusive and hate speech from Twitter data. The evaluation result showed that the model proposed produced an f-measure value of 94% with an increase in accuracy of 23%.</span>
