The use of high-quality seeds from high-yielding rice varieties (HYV) is crucial for enhancing grain yield. Yet, the supply of certified seed meets only 57.3% of the total rice seed demand, leading some farmers to plant non-certified local rice seeds. A study examining the effects of seed sources and fertilization on seed yields was conducted in Bogor Village, Sukra District, Indramayu Regency during the Dry Season of 2019. The treatments consisted of two factors: A. Seed sources (Local non-certified seed (Local-NC), HYV non-certified seed (HYV-NC), and HYV-certified seed) and B. Fertilization methods (Recommended Fertilizer (RF), RF+BioF, RF+P as top dressing, and RF+N as top dressing). These were designed in a Complete Block Design with three replications. Results showed that Local-NC was more susceptible to BPH and RSB than HYV varieties. Additionally, Local-NC had the highest percentage of off-type plants and produced the lowest grain and seed yields. The addition of P or N fertilizer to RF during the heading stage notably improved the panicle number per hill, 1000-grain, seed yields and rendement. Our findings suggest that optimal rice seed yields can be achieved by planting HYV– certified seeds and applying either RF + 18 kg P ha−1 or RF + 11.5 kg N ha−1 as top dressing.

Expanding rice planting areas is one of Government’s strategy that could overcome increasing rice demand nationally. However the more rice planting areas the more chemical fertilizer used, which has a deleterious side effect on the soil, environment and high in cost production. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a less or without chemical fertilizer rice production system through applying biofertilizer and combining with a proper cultivation technology such as management on plant spacing. An experiment was conducted at Pusakanagara Research Station, Indonesia during August to December 2018 to evaluate the effect of form and dosage of biofertilizer application at different plant spacing toward the growth and yield response of lowland rice. The experiment was arranged in split-split-plot design with three replications. The main plot was plant spacing, i.e T1 – Jajar Legowo pattern 2:1 (25 cm - 50 cm) x 12,5 cm and T2 – Jajar Legowo Pattern 4:1 (25 cm - 50 cm) x 12,5 cm. The sub-plot was form of biofertilizer, i.e W1 – powder and W2 – granule, while the sub-sub-plot was dosage of biofertilizer, i.e P0 – without biofertilizer (control), P1 – 150 g/ha, P2 – 250 g/ha, and P3 – 300 g/ha. The result showed The interaction between plant spacing (T) x form of biofertilizer (W) x dosage of biofertilizer (P) affected significant on tiller number and panicle length and not significantly at the yield and yield components of lowland rice soil. The highest yield at control with the powder form at Jajar Legowo pattern 2:1 was 8.7 t/ha miled dry grain, but not significantly different from other biofertilizer dosage level. Applying biofertilizer at a rate of 150 g/ha in the form of powder at Jajar Legowo pattern 2:1 could increase grain yield up to 2.5 t/ha more than Jajar Legowo pattern 4:1.

Oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jack) is an important plantation commodity for both agriculture and the economy, because its oil-producing potential is greater than that of other crops, such as corn, soybean and sunflower oil. The main disease of this plant is stem rot (BPB) caused by Ganoderma boninense. Therefore, it is necessary to know and identify BPB problems and their control efforts at PTPN VIII Palm Oil Plantation, Cikasungka. The study used a Randomized Block Design (RAK) with 3 observation blocks each covering an area of 25 ha, each block taken 5 observation plots with an area of 50 x 50 m2 each, then from each plot 5 sub-plots measuring 10 x 10 m2 were taken. Observational data were analyzed with variance and further tested by Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT). The results of this study indicate that the symptoms of disease in the garden are very diverse, ranging from mild to very severe. The signs of the disease can be identified through the fruiting bodies of Ganoderma boninense. The incidence of disease in all survey locations ranged from 16 – 38%, although in each location did not show significant differences. The percentage of disease severity was lowest in location B3 (5.75%) which had a significant effect compared to location B1. Location B1 had the highest disease severity, which was 23%. The control of BPB that has been carried out at the survey site includes the construction of isolation trenches followed by the application of biofungicides with the active ingredients of T. koningii and T. harzianum.
