<p class="abstrak"><em>Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran literasi lingkungan pada mahasiswa pendidikan geografi. Sampel peneltian adalah seluruh mahasiswa pendidikan geografi Universitas Sembilanbelas November Kolaka sebanyak 221 mahasiswa. Metode penelitian yang digunakan deskriptif dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa survey melalui instrumen angket dan soal tes pilihan ganda yang digunakan untuk mengetahui persentase literasi lingkungan mahasiswa, yang terdiri dari indikator pengetahuan lingkungan, keterampilan kognitif, sikap peduli lingkungan dan perilaku pro-lingkungan. Hasil dari pengolahan dan analisis data, maka disimpulkan bahwa literasi lingkungan mahasiswa pendidikan geografi berada pada kategori sedang untuk indikator pengetahuan lingkungan sebesar 78,3%, indikator keterampilan kognitif 63,3%, dan indikator perilaku pro-lingkungan sebesar 65,6%, sedangkan pada indikator sikap peduli lingkungan menunjukkan kategori tinggi dengan persentase 81%. Selain itu, persentase tersebut juga menunjukkan beberapa sub-indikator dengan persentase tertinggi dari indikator literasi lingkungan diantaranya sub-indikator memiliki pengetahuan mengenai pemecahan masalah lingkungan pada indikator pengetahuan lingkungan, sub-indikator memiliki kemampuan dalam merencanakan tindakan penyelidikan isu lingkungan pada indikator keterampilan kognitif, sub-indikator sikap apresiasi terhadap lingkungan pada indikator sikap peduli lingkungan, dan sub-indikator konservasi sumber daya alam pada indikator perilaku pro-lingkungan.</em></p>

The global concern for environmental issues is widely discussed worldwide. Environmental literacy, encompassing concerns for the environment, is crucial to prevent human-induced environmental damage. Education plays a pivotal role in enhancing this literacy. This research aims to describe the environmental literacy abilities of students at Senior High School 10 Palembang, namely a school that is environmentally conscious regarding environmental pollution material. The research method is descriptive research and survey techniques. The research sample was 36 students of class XI Science. The sample used a purposive sampling technique. The research instrument includes 31 multiple-choice questions for knowledge and cognitive skills and 37 questionnaire statements for behavioral and affective indicators. Data analysis was carried out by calculating the average achievement of indicator students' environmental literacy scores in the form of percentages. Analysis revealed an overall environmental literacy percentage of 49.06% in the quite good category. However, specific indicators, notably knowledge (39.44%) and cognitive skills (29.52%) poor category. Behavioral indicators (60.94%) were quite a good category, and affective indicators stood (66.33%) good category, indicating room for improvement, especially in knowledge and cognitive skills. Teachers could enhance environmental literacy by employing innovative strategies, particularly in biology classes discussing environmental pollution.

“…Teachers also play an important role in the success of students in caring for the surrounding natural environment, where teachers must provide good direction and guidance to students about positive things to maintain, preserve and care for the surrounding natural environment. This is supported by research by Norley et al (2016), who said that teachers who do not care about the problems of the surrounding natural environment, who do not have sufficient cognitive and ecological culture, do not have a deep cognitive background, and are not equipped with extensive experience and skilled. Then it will fail as a model for educating students and will experience difficulties in achieving environmental education goals.…”

This research aims to see the correlation and contribution between the cognitive levels of the surrounding natural environment in students in class XI at Private High School of Immanuel Medan. This research was conducted on all class XI students consisting of 3 classes, with a population of 120 people and a sample of 93 students. This type of research is descriptive research with correlation techniques. The sampling technique was carried out by random sampling. The research instruments used were cognitive tests of the surrounding natural environment, distribution of awareness questionnaires for the surrounding natural environment, observation sheets and interviews. The research results show that the correlation value formed from the cognitive level of the surrounding natural environment with concern for the surrounding natural environment is 0.289 (low) with a contribution of 11.81% and regression analysis shows the regression equation Ŷ = 1 + 1.5091x. From the calculation results, tcount is 12.78 > ttable 2.78. This indicates that Ha is accepted and H0 is rejected, in other words there is a significant correlation between students' cognitive level and the surrounding natural environment and concern for the surrounding natural environment at Private High School of Immanuel Medan
