Research of Deicing and Melting Snow on Airport Asphalt Pavement by Carbon Fiber Heating Wire

et al.

Abstract: In the paper, the method of deicing and melting snow by the carbon fiber heating wire (CFHW) embedded in the airport asphalt pavement is proposed to improve the security of airport operation. The field experiment of deicing and melting snow on the airport asphalt pavement is conducted. Deicing and melting snow, asphalt pavement temperature, ice-free area ratio, and snow-free area ratio are analyzed. Electrical power with 350 W/m2 is input to the airport asphalt pavement for deicing and melting snow by the CFHW… Show more

“…A total of 2000 discrete directions with the same volume fraction were used for VPSC modeling. The input data required for modeling were described in detail in the literature [26], hence not discussed here. The detailed procedure for the calculation in the VPSC model has been well documented by Li et al [33].…”

“…The proposed Viscoplastic Self-Consistent (VPSC) model [24,25] solves the problem of studying metal plastic deformation from the perspective of microscopic deformation mechanism. Su [26] et al used the VPSC model with different deformation mechanisms to investigate the influence of a secondary deformation mechanism (prismatic <a> slip, pyramidal <c+a> slip, and {1011} compression twin) on mechanical response and texture evolution, and a VPSC model was established to simulate the plastic deformation of magnesium alloy.…”

“…As a new type of snow-removal technology, pouring conductive asphalt concrete has the advantages of high de-icing efficiency, good compliance with the bridge deck, no water seepage and low energy consumption [ 9 , 10 , 11 , 12 ]. The Nebraska Department of Roads conductive concrete bridge de-icing project analyzed the cost of various de-icing methods.…”

“…e test results show that the carbon fiber electric heating method can effectively remove the icing and snow problems of the road. Yong Lai [23,24] et al proposed a method for snow melting with carbon fiber grilles buried in airport sidewalks. At −3 °C to −1 °C, power is supplied to the airport sidewalk by using carbon fiber grille.…”
