Abstract. Susatyo P, Lestari W, Sugiharto, Chasanah T. 2022. Reproductive aspects of javaen barb fish, Systomus orphoides in the initial domestication program. Biodiversitas 23: 1511-1519. The population of Javaen barb, Systomus orphoides (Valenciennes, 1842) in the Serayu River Central Java has declined, and domestication is one of the most critical conservation initiatives. This research aimed to evaluate the reproductive aspect of javaen barb, Systomus orphoides in an initial domestication program. Furthermore, fish samples were collected from the Serayu River and reared in traditional ponds. The bred broodstocks were injected with artificial hormones before spawning, and several reproductive aspects were measured and analyzed descriptively according to the literature. Fish specimens had gonadosomatic indexes ranging from 11±0.3% to 16.2±0.9%. The values represented all phases of oogenesis and spermatogenesis in females and males. The reproductive hormone titer consisted of 854.85-1058.06 pg/mL of 17ß estradiol, 0.29-0.72 ng/mL of progesterone, 10.87-15.68 mIU/mL of follicle-stimulating hormone, and 4.18-9.92 ng/mL of testosterone. These findings demonstrated that the Serayu River's wild Javaen barb population reached all reproductive phases and that broodstocks can be domesticated in the traditional pond.

Kampung Baru is a village in South Aceh Regency. The fishing gear used by most fisherman is a traditional fishing gear. The traditional fishing gear usually used is trap. It is usually used by fishermen to catch eel fish. This study aims to find out the most effective type of bait to catch eel by using trap fishing gear in Kampung Baru Village, Bakongan subdistrict, South Aceh. The types of bait that are tested are congealed, earthworms, chicken intestines and shrimp paste at sampling locations that are usually used by local fishermen. The study used experimental fishing testing methods conducted from April to May 2023. Data analysis used is to determine the influence of different bait by using a complete randomized design. Research results show that the most catch uses a type of earthworm bait 20 eels. Data analysis using Analysis of Variance averages 2.05 eel per day. The smallest real difference test results show that each treatment has a different value and significant. So, it can be concluded that the effect of using different bait has an effect on the catch of eel fish (Monopterus spp and Anguilla spp), and the most effective of bait is earthworms.

Biscuits with eel flour substitution contained high energy and protein. Food spoilage during storage is caused by water absorption from food storage. This study examines the effect of storage on the water content of biscuits and organoleptic quality. This research was a quasi-experiment conducted by laboratory analysis of the moisture content of biscuits with the addition of eel flour (Monoptherus albus zuieuw). The experiment was conducted at Jayapura Health Polytechnic Laboratory, consisting of 3 formulas (10, 20 and 30 grams) of eel flour substitution. They were packaged using PP plastic and glass jars. The observations were conducted for seven days at temperatures of -18°C and 45°C. Organoleptic test using 17 somewhat trained panellists. Analysis using Independent T-Test. The results showed that biscuits stored at -18°C experienced an increase in water content on the seventh day. Biscuits stored in plastic packaging have a higher water content than glass jars. There was no significant difference in the water content of biscuits stored in jars and plastics (p=0,631). Organoleptic analysis showed that on the sixth day, there was a change in the preference for taste and texture stored in plastic at temperatures of 45°C. In conclusion, there was no significant difference in the moisture content of the biscuits stored in glass or plastic jars. However, there was a decrease in preference on the sixth day of plastic packaging.
