Rasch Modeling: A Multiple Choice Chemistry Test

Abstract: The study aimed to reveal the difficulty level of items and the suitability of items of Chemistry test with the Rasch model. In addition to detecting this item quality, the Rasch model shows the student's answer pattern as well, so that the assessment can imply the quality of the instrument as an assessment of chemical learning. As many as 20 numbers of multiple-choice questions in chemical bonding material were analyzed by using WINSTEPS 3.73. The samples consisted of 200 senior high school students in Banjar… Show more

“…for the highest logit value is 2.27 logit, and the lowest value is -1.7 [14]. Based on construct validity, namely from three statistical criteria starting from the MNSQ outfit with the accepted criteria being < 1.5, table 1 shows the questions on A2 exceed 1.5, but the questions are still considered valid because the two criteria from the Rasch model are still in the accepted range, namely on outfit ZSTD 0.7 (accepted range -1.9 < outfit ZSTD < 1.9) and PT Mean Corr 0.31 (with accepted value is > 0.00) [26].…”

“…The Rasch model will analyze how a test can do well or not in measuring latent human traits, including how the quality of the tests that have been tested (Vindbjerg et al, 2020;Winarti & Mubarak, 2019). Analysis with the Rasch model can be a reference in determining the validity and reliability of a test, by comparing the standards that exist in the model (Adams et al, 2021;van de Grift et al, 2019) on students' cognitive abilities in understanding concepts and thinking skills after practicum activities in the form of multiple choice tests.…”
