Development of items in Acid-Base Identification Experiments Using Natural Materials: Validity Test with Rasch Model Analysis

Abstract: The development of the test in the form of multiple choice items as 18 questions, aims to measure students' abilities in the experiment of identifying acid-base compounds with natural indicators. The study used descriptive quantitative methods. 79 high school students who have studied acid-base experiment with natural indicators, as the subject of validity test. Validity analyzed by Rasch model in the Winsteps program, including the level of problem difficulty, item validity, construct validity, content validi… Show more

“…The low reliability of people, this can happen because the sample used is small, namely 32 people, but if you look at the reliability value of the items that are sufficient, you can be sure that the instrument used can measure students' understanding in mastering the concept properly (Mulyanti et al, 2022). Based on these data, the question instruments were used for the pretest and posttest.…”

“…The two values stated that there was no significant deviation from the results of the analysis on the 26 test items given to students (Aryadoust et al, 2016;Widhiarso & Sumintono, 2016). (Adams et al, 2021;Mulyanti et al, 2022). The reliability value above of 0.9 indicates a special score, this states that the level of difficulty of the questions is in line with the abilities of each student who answers them.…”

“…Reliability includes the research subjects and the test items given, for the subject or person the reliability is 0.93 and for the item 0.98. Both values indicate that the test items are consistently well answered by students(Adams et al, 2021;Mulyanti et al, 2022). The reliability value above of 0.9 indicates a special score, this states that the level of difficulty of the questions is in line with the abilities of each student who answers them.…”

“…However, the analysis with various techniques is a group-centered statistical analysis and cannot describe the specifics of each individual. The analysis technique that explicitly addresses each subject and includes its ability to level the difficulty of the questions is the Rasch model [9], [10]. Analysis with the Rasch model can specifically find out how students are able to answer questions, both on the questions and the reasons underlying the answers [11].…”
