“…The CSF exhibited the highest phenolic content followed by ESF, CME, AQSF and PSF. The phenolic content of CME was reported earlier by Xiong et al, 2021;Le et al, 2021, which is consistent with our results. A number of phenolic compounds such as 4-hydroxy benzoic acid, chlorogenic acid, vanillic acid, protocatechuic acid, syringic acid, caffeic acid and its ethyl ester, ferulic acid ethyl ester etc.…”

“…A number of phenolic compounds such as 4-hydroxy benzoic acid, chlorogenic acid, vanillic acid, protocatechuic acid, syringic acid, caffeic acid and its ethyl ester, ferulic acid ethyl ester etc. have been reported from the shoots of E. prostata (Zhang et al, 2001;Xiong et al, 2021;Le et al, 2021). Our results support that E. prostata is an important source of phenolics that might have potential health benefits.…”

“…The Korean variety of E. prostrata ethanolic extract prepared conventionally and using ultrasound as well as wedenolactone (a compound isolated from this plant) exhibited anti-inflammatory activity by reducing IL-6, TNF-α, and PGE 2 levels ( Lee, 2017 ). In another investigation, a series of flavonoid, flavonoid derivative, triterpenoid, and triterpenoid glycosides were isolated from this plant which reduced the NO level in LPS-stimulated RAW 264.7 cells in varying degrees, where 7- O -methylorobol-4′- O - β -D-glucopyranoside was found to be the most potent compound and reported as an inhibitor of IκB phosphorylation ( Le et al, 2020 ). The aqueous seed extract of the Sri Lankan variety of this plant dose-dependently inhibited denaturation of egg albumin ( Kannadas et al, 2020 ).…”

“…Lupane skeleton and a ketone at C-3 of triterpenes would be essential for exerting a potent PPA inhibition in A. precatorius [ 34 ]. Triterpenoid glycosides having glucopyranosyl moiety are favorable for inhibiting PTP1B enzyme from E. prostrata [ 35 ]. Bitter-taste receptors of quassinoids may be a target as to induce lipolytic activity, the length of acyl side chain at 15-OH is important for the lipolytic activity of B. javanica [ 36 ].…”
