Promising varieties of fiber and oil flax plants for agricultural technologies of Trans-Urals

Abstract: Cultivation of fiber flax and oil flax in Kurgan region is of current interest due to the presence of flax seed and straw processing enterprise – SUE Len Zauralya, Kurgan. To increase the production of highquality flaxseed oil and flax products, the level of flax production should be increased via theoretically substantiated cultivation technologies. Propagating a new variety, plant breeders consider the needs of two categories of consumers – flax producers and flax processors. Some of them need fiber flax var… Show more

“…Superior flax lines identified in this study can be used for enhanced studies to breed new varieties with a wide range of potential customers in the food market and industry (Table S2 ). Oil content and its fatty acid composition are the main components of flax genotypes, essentially determining its value and market end-use for nutritional or industrial purposes [ 9 , 42 , 43 ]. Hence, modifying fatty acid profiles to improve oil quality is an important and evolving issue in flax research [ 9 , 44 ].…”

“…At the same time, it is necessary to consider the needs of two categories of consumers -producers and processors of flax. This is important for reducing the economic, environmental, and social costs of agricultural production [32,33].…”

“…Oil content and its fatty acid composition are the main parameters for linseed genotypes, defining to a large extent its value and market end use (Ceh et al, 2020;Gajardo et al, 2017;Porsev et al, 2020). The scatter plot of F4 families and parental genotypes drawn (Figure 4) for linolenic acid content versus oil content specifies this relation.…”
