Processamento auditivo, reflexo acústico e expressão fonológica

Abstract: It is thought that a close relationship exists between auditory processing, the acoustic reflex and speech.Aim: A retrospective study to evaluate these three aspects in children with and without phonological disorders and seek any relationship among them.Material Methods: 46 children were enrolled: 24 had normal speech abilities and 22 had phonological disorders. All children underwent auditory processing and acoustic reflex threshold testing. Design: Cross-sectional contemporary. Results: Auditory processing a… Show more

“…But it was observed that a considerable amount of children with appropriate phonological development showed poor results in auditory processing. These findings do not corroborate national studies 5,[28][29][30] that show evidence of a relationship between auditory processing alteration and the presence of phonological alterations, whereby children with phonological alteration present poorer results in the evaluations of the auditory processing when compared to children with normal phonological development. The finding of the present study may be due to the heterogeneity of the sample and randomness in the selection of the participants.…”

“…Auditory discrimination is very important to distinguish between sounds, aiding in the distinction and identification of acoustic differences of each phoneme. This ability may be found to be altered in children diagnosed with phonological disorder 27 .…”

“…As for the association between the results of acoustic reflex measurement and sound localization, there is a study that found lowered values between these two variables in children with phonological 27 disorder. This study reaffirms that auditory processing and acoustic reflex play an important role in the process of acquisition of speech sounds.…”

“…Auditory processing is the ability of the Central Nervous System to efficiently and effectively use auditory information (1) and covers skills to locate the sound source, focus, understand, discriminate and recognize sound stimuli (2) . The reception, analysis and interpretation of sounds depend on this skill set and not just on normal hearing (3) .…”
