Preparation and characterization of silver colloids with different morphologies under ultrasonic field

Abstract: In the ultrasonic field, stable silver colloids were produced by the reduction of AgNO 3 with the protection of PVP using KBH 4 or N 2 H 4 ·H 2 O as reductant. The main factors affecting the morphology of silver nanoparticles, such as distribution of the ultrasonic field, ultrasonic time, ultrasonic power, and the species of reductant, were studied. The silver colloids were identified by TEM and spectrophotometry. The results indicate that the factors such as distribution of the ultrasonic field, ultrasonic ti… Show more

“…A lot of researches have been discovered that various polymer materials, such as polyethylene glycol, [3] poly (vinyl alcohol), [4] poly (lactic acid), [5] polyacrylonitrile, [6] chitosan, [7,8] poly (N-vinylpyrrolidone), [9] and gelatin, [10-12] could be used as polymer matrices. There are a variety of ways to consolidate Ag NPs into polymer matrix which included chemical reducing, [6,13] radiochemical, [14,15] photochemical, [16] electrochemical, [10,11] and sonochemical [17] method.…”

“…Silver colloids were prepared in the flat bottomed vessel with standing wave field. In standing wave field the silver colloidal particles are spherical, hexagonal or irregular shaped and the particles can grow along some directions into a regular shape from a sphere like or irregular shape [22].…”
