Світло є важливим регулятором біологічних ритмів організму взагалі та ендокринної системи зокрема. Існування циркадних та циркануальних ритмів органів і систем є необхідною умовою їх нормального функціонування. Пінеальна залоза є органом, здатним перетворювати світлові сигнали у нейрогуморальні трансмітери. Вона є нейроендокринною структурою мозку, яка реагує на фактори зовнішнього середовища та перетворює їх у гормональні сигнали, приводячи рівень регуляції функціонування багатьох органів і систем у відповідність до змін світлового режиму. Ця функція пінеальної залози реалізується завдяки гормону мелатоніну, який здійснює циркадний контроль. Втрата пінеальною залозою здатності синтезувати біологічно активні речовини призводить до розвитку гіпопінеалізму, та, як наслідок, до цілого ряду поліендокринопатій. Ці захворювання пов’язані, насамперед, з пригніченням мелатонінутворюючої функції пінеальної залози та нівелюванням нічного піку мелатоніну. В нормі нічний пік мелатоніну синтезується лише за умов відсутності світла, освітлення в темну пору доби пригнічує його секрецію. Доведено, що цілодобове освітлення протягом тривалого часу викликає зміни біохімічних процесів у пінеалоцитах, що супроводжується не тільки порушенням мелатонінутворюючої функції, а також і патологічними змінами мікроструктури пінеальної залози. У сучасній науковій літературі широко висвітлене питання порушення функціонування пінеальної залози на тлі десинхронозу добових ритмів, що у подальшому призводить до зміни гормональної активності ендокринних залоз, проте відсутня єдина точка зору щодо характеру цих змін. Виходячи з актуальності проблеми світлового забруднення проведено огляд сучасних наукових публікацій за даною темою. В огляді ґрунтовно висвітлено вплив зміни режиму освітлення, як на саму пінеальну залозу, так і на регуляцію функцій організму в цілому.

Peptide drug Thymalin, isolated from the calve thymus, is successfully used for the treatment of various immunopathologies, including those in older age groups. The molecular mechanism of the Thymalin immunoprotective action is due to the effects of the short peptides KE, EW, EDP in its composition. These short peptides can specifically bind to double-stranded DNA and/or histone proteins and regulate gene expression, synthesis of immune system proteins, activity of gerontogenes, and stimulate stem cell differentiation. Regulation of immunogenesis is a key factor preventing the development of the “cytokine storm” that develops in severe COVID-19. The purpose of this work is to study the effectiveness of Thymalin in severe COVID-19 in older patients. Patients administered with Thymalin against the background of a standard therapy ( n = 36) manifested a more rapid clinical improvement, higher proportions of recovery from lymphopenia, faster normalization of the concentration of C-reactive protein, D-dimer, the number of lymphocytes and NK-cells in the blood, compared to patients who received a standard therapy only ( n = 44). Thymalin halved hospital mortality in older patients with severe COVID-19. The results obtained showed the effectiveness of Thymalin administration in the complex therapy of patients with severe COVID-19.

One of the new directions on which the searches used to find the methods to effectively correct the regeneration in case of different pathologies is the application of biologically active peptides and their mixtures. In the work there was investigated the biological influence of extracts of cryopreserved fragments of skin and heart of newborn piglets with the cold wound of skin and myocardial ischemia in rats respectively. For investigations the extracts were obtained from cryopreserved fragments of newborn piglets’ skin and heart. Cold wound of skin was modelled in rats by 10 mm copper applicator cooled in liquid nitrogen down to -196°C; the areas of wounds were determined by planimetric method, the white blood cells’ counts were analysed. In rats with myocardial ischemia there were studied the electrocardiograms, heart rate variability and proliferative activity of heart cells. The injection of extracts of cryopreserved fragments of skin to the animal’s abdominal cavity accelerates the healing of cold wound of skin and normalizes the response of immune system to an injury. After the injection during 2 months to the animals with myocardial ischemia with extracts of cryopreserved fragments of heart the normalization of electrophysiological indices of heart activity was observed that testified about the improved blood supply to a heart muscle. Being injected to healthy animals and those with myocardial ischemia the extracts of cryopreserved fragments of heart resulted in an increase in proliferative activity of heart cells. The studied extracts have a high biological effect and can be applied when designing the drugs for regenerative medicine.Summary statementThe extracts of cryopreserved fragments of piglets’ heart or skin were shown as stimulating reparative regeneration of heart tissues in myocardial ischemia of rats and skin in a cold wound, respectively.
