Malay-Muslim identity is the regular norm among Malays in Malaysia; however, this identity has been challenged with the emergence of sexual-and-gender minority (SGM). Even though Malay cultural values and Islamic teachings prohibit same-sex orientation and cross-gender, a SGM group has evolved among Malay-Muslim natal females. This meta-synthesis was conducted to explore the psychosocial factors involved in the construction of SGM and its consequences among Malay natal females in Malaysia using the Sandelowski-Barroso approach. A systematic search of articles was done in the selected databases by using identified keywords between October to December 2020. Twelve full articles were included after proper screening and in-depth reviews. The quality of these articles was assessed independently by two researchers. The articles were then analysed using ATLAS.ti 8 software to group the data into subthemes and themes. Lastly, the effect sizes of each subtheme were calculated. Three main themes were identified: affection seeking, hurtful experience and nurturing influences. Malay natal females also shared consequences following construction of SGM identity which include acceptance from community, continuous conflicts in life and mental health consequences. This meta-synthesis revealed the influences that shape the construction of Malay SGM women. Thus, interventions shall be planned to aid them according to cultural and psychosocial factors.

AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkapkan bagaimana fenomena "Melela"" dikalangan lesbian dalam menjelaskan jati dirinya terhadap keluarga atas perilaku mereka yang menyimpang dari yang seharusnya di Kota Padang. Penelitian ini dianalisis dengan menggunakan teori aksi yang dikemukakan oleh Talcott Parsons. Teknik pemilihan informan dengan snowball sampling. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif tipe studi kasus. Teknik pengumpulan data yang dilakukan yaitu dengan observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi yang kemudian dianalisis menggunakan teknik analisis data dari Miles dan Huberman. Hasil penelitian ini mengungkapkan bahwa seorang lesbian juga ada mempunyai keinginan untuk mengungkapkan identitasnya kepada keluarga yang disebut dengan istilah "Melela", hal ini mereka lakukan disebabkan oleh beberapa alasan seperti karena perjodohan, ketahuan, merasa bersalah kepada keluarga dan karena ingin berubah. Cara mereka menyampaikan identitas mereka pun bermacam-macam, yang dikelompokkan secara langsung dan tidak langsung, cara langsung seperti melakukan pendekatan terlebih dahulu kepada keluarganya, membantu orang tua terlebih dan dengan cara mendesak tanpa persiapan; tidak langsung dengan melalui perantara atau alat seperti buku diari dan orang (dalam hal ini paman). Kemudian Setelah "Melela" kehidupan mereka juga berbeda-beda, ada yang sadar, bingung dan juga masih berstatus sebagai seorang lesbian serta menjadi seorang yang heteroseksual. AbstractThis study aims to analyze how the phenomenon of "Melela" among 5 young lesbians in explaining their identity towards their family in Padang City. "Melela" is a term that is used by Lesbians'c community to disclose their identity to their parents. Since they are living in the city of Padang which is the social and the structure system in this society close to the Islamic Teaching, the society refuse the way of LGBT life. Thus, it is difficult for them to reveal their lesbian identity, even to their close family. This research was analyzed using 'Action Theory' of Talcot Parsons. This research uses a qualitative case study type approach. The data collection is used indepth interview, observation and snowball sampling technique, through 7 informants which consist of 5 young lesbians and 2 parents. The data analysis from Miles and Huberman. The results of this study show that several reasons to expose their identity to their family including marriage arrangement, getting caught, feeling guilty to the family and because they want to change to the 'normal' life. The way they convey their identities also varies, such as tell their family directly and indirectly, direct ways such as approaching their families first, helping parents and by urging without preparation; indirectly through intermediaries or tools such as diary books and people (in this case uncle). Then, after "Melela" their lives are also different, three of them are still confuse with their situation, one of the already changed to the normal life, means that she has a heterosexual partner and another...

Problems about homosexuality and transgender are still being discussed and researched by beginners and experts. Some studies of homosexuals suggest that we obtain a higher sensation of sexual pleasure with a homosexual partner than heterosexual couples. This research uses a quantitative approach with a comparative descriptive type. The research sample comprised 208 people, comprising 79 men and 129 women spread across 14 provinces in Indonesia. The analysis technique used is the Subtotal specification T-test with the Rasch stacking model, which is processed with the help of Winsteps. The data in this study are political data collected using an inventory of Homosexuality and Transgender Exposure (IHTE). The results of the different test analyze of male and female homosexual and transgender, tendencies show that there are differences in homosexual and transgender tendencies between men and women. We can use these findings as further studies related to homosexuality and transgender in Indonesia.
