Objectives: The majority (80%) of stroke survivors in Bangladesh have lived with either minor or major physical, emotional, and cognitive disabilities. Due to patients’ poor perceived experience in healthcare services, participation in rehabilitation care has become a significant challenge for them. Consequently, it increases the burden of stroke disability. Therefore, this study aimed to measure the gaps in post-stroke outpatients’ rehabilitation Service Quality (SQ) and factors related to these gaps. Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was administered on 311 post-stroke outpatients who were selected by stratified sampling method from 5 divisional centers of a rehabilitation hospital. Data collection tools consisted of the following: a demographic information form and a modified Service Quality (SERVQUAL) questionnaire. Cronbach’s alpha coefficient was applied to analyze the internal consistency. Besides, Pearson’s (r) correlation test was applied to examine the correlation coefficient between the explored items. The obtained data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, Paired Samples t-test, and Eta-statistic (δ) of the Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). Results: Patients’ expectations were rated higher than the perceptions in all dimensions of rehabilitation SQ and indicated a significant gap (t=-29.604, P<0.001). Patients’ occupation (δ=0.189), family status (δ=0.289), pre-stroke daily activities (δ=0.235), and post-stroke disability (δ=0.286) indicated a significant relationship with the gaps in rehabilitation SQ. Discussion: Post-stroke rehabilitation SQ gaps are required to be addressed by considering the factors related to these gaps. Most importantly, the rehabilitation hospital must integrate the continuous quality improvement monitoring systems to enhance SQ as well as patients’ participation in rehabilitation care programs.

OBJECTIVE: The objective of the study was to evaluate the patient satisfaction and loyalty to the quality of community dental and oral health services from various dimensions. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This study used a pilot pathfinder, which was conducted in Polewali Mandar District in 2019. The subjects consisted of 458 people. Data were collected using a questionnaire, which was designed appropriate to this survey which consists of 67 questions with responses in the form of bad, poor, moderate, good, and very good. Questions about dental and oral health service beliefs are grouped into four dimensions, ability, heart competence, intelligence, and trust. Beliefs were analyzed using the F-test and multiple regression. RESULTS: The dimensions of service quality toward satisfaction and loyalty were the dimensions of registration and the doctor which had an effect in community satisfaction and loyalty with p < 0.05. CONCLUSION: Communities in Wonomulyo Subdistrict, and Bulo Subdistrict, Polewali Mandar District largely have a significant interest in community satisfaction and loyalty with dental and oral health services.

This paper is an outcome of reviewing different dimensions of social exclusion and challenges faced by people with disabilities (PWD) in Bangladesh and suggest some policy guidelines to promote inclusion of PWD into the development process. This paper is based on secondary sources of data and therefore, government, non-government organization’s study report, policy documents, journal articles, statistical report, research findings etc. were consulted to collect data and construct the paper. The paper describes the social exclusion of Bangladeshi PWD in the six broad areas e.g. income and assets, employment, education, health and social security, social relationship and recreation. Therefore, some key areas of policy implications are outlined for inclusion of PWD in Bangladesh which include the prospective way to address poverty, adopt active labor market policy, promoting social services and encouraging community based rehabilitation, providing counseling and other support services and utilizing the vision of user involvement etc.
