Paracoccus liaowanqingii sp. nov., isolated from Tibetan antelope (Pantholops hodgsonii)

Abstract: Two strains, designated 2251T and 3058, that were aerobic, Gram-stain-negative, non-motile, coccoid or short rod-shaped bacilli, have recently been isolated from Tibetan antelopes on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. The results of phylogenetic analyses of 16S rRNA gene sequences indicated that strains 2251T and 3058 represent a new species within the genus Paracoccus and are most similar to ‘ … Show more

“…The taxonomic name of the genus Paracoccus originated from the cell morphology, as strains in the genus are often coccoid [6, 8]. All members of the genus Paracoccus contain Q-10 as the major respiratory quinone [4, 5, 7, 9, 10] and the genome size ranges from 3.0 to 5.3 Mb. The type strain of this genus, P.…”

“…At the time of writing, the genus Paracoccus comprises 67 species with validly published names (www.bacterio.net; 11 new species have not been included before 29 November 2019). The latest described species are Paracoccus luteus isolated from the intestine of grass carp [5] and Paracoccus liaowanqingii isolated from Tibetan antelope [6]. According to the latest version, Paracoccus is described as Gram-stain-negative, non-motile, oxidase-positive and catalase-positive.…”

“…At the time of writing, the genus Paracoccus has contained 78 recognized species with validly published names (search time: 25 February 2023, http://www.bacterio.net/paracoccus.html) [2]. Species of genus Paracoccus were isolated from various environments, including freshwater [3], seawater [4], air [5], soil [6], tidal flat sediment [7], activated sludge [8], sediment [9], plant [10] and Tibetan antelope [11]. The members of Paracoccus share some common features, including having ubiquinone 10 as the dominant isoprenoid quinone, C 18 : 1 ω 7 c as the major fatty acid [12], and DNA G+C content between 64–70 % [13].…”
