Micropropagation is an alternative method for producing pathogenic contamination-free shallots seedlings. The aim of this research was to determine the optimum balance of auxin-cytokinin and sucrose concentration in stimulating the plantlet regeneration on shallot. The research was conducted from March to August 2019. In this study, the auxin and cytokinin treatment (1-5 ppm) were used in the format of a randomized complete block design in three replications. The basal plate containing a shoot bud was excised from healthy bulb and used as planting material. The explants had been through a sterilization process and was cultured aseptically in medium containing each treatment. Culture medium contained 7 g.L -1 agar powder and were adjusted at pH 5.8 before autoclaving. The multiple shootlet (10 weeks of cultured) were then subcultured for bulblet formation in MS medium supplemeted with BAP dan succrose (3-9%). The basal plate containing a shoot bud was excised from healthy bulb and used as planting material. The explants had been through a sterilization process and was cultured aseptically in medium containing each treatment. Culture medium contained 7 g L -1 agar powder and were adjusted at pH 5.8 before autoclaving. The results showed that the use of ½ MS media could increase the efficiency of using nutrient solution of tissue culture media. Micro shoot formation can be initiated on ½ MS medium with the addition of 1 ppm BAP (1.36 shoots / explants). This media also produced the best response for the number of micro roots (5.63 roots / explants), and the number of micro leaves (3.91 leaves). However, the difference in composition of nutrient in culture media was not able to accelerate the time of growth of shoots, roots and leaves. Further subculture in ½ strength of MS medium containing of BAP and sucrose 6% increased shoot, root and bulblet formation (13.3 shoots, 41.3 roots and 10.7 bulblets).

Onion is one of the primary commodities of growing in Central Sulawesi and is a raw material for the fried shallot processing industry cv. lembah palu. This study aimed to determine the effect of seaweed extract and NPK on the growth and yield of the onion. This research was performed at the Faculty of Agriculture farm, Tadulako University. This research was prepared using a Randomized Block Design (RBD) consisting of seven treatments, with the following details: (A1) = Caulerpa sp Extract 100 ml/pot; (A2) = Sargassum sp Extract 100 ml/pot; (A3) = Ulva sp. Extract 100 ml/pot; (A4) = 0.25 g NPK fertilizer per plant; (A5) = 100 ml of Caulerpa sp. Seaweed Extract and 0.25 g NPK per pot; (A6) = Sargassum Sp Extract 100 ml and 0.25 g NPK per pot; (A7) = Ulva sp. Extract 100 ml and 0.25 g NPK per pot. Thus, there are seven treatments. Each treatment is repeated three times so that there are 21 experimental units. The results showed that the treatment of seaweed extract and NPK obtained better number of leaves, plant height, fresh plant weight, fresh tuber weight, plant dry weight, and number of tuber clumps.

This study aims to utilize data from soil analysis as a basis for plant nutrient management to increase the productivity of shallots of the palu valley variety. The first phase of the research was carried out using the survey method at 7 main locations of shallot development of the palu valley variety. The second phase of the study is a field experiment using a 2-factor factorial experiment. The first factor is the dose of chicken manure 10 tons ha−1 (O1) and 15 tons ha−1 (O2) while the second factor is 48 kg S ha−1 (H1), 72 kg S ha−1(H2), 100 kg KCl ha−1 (H3), and 200 kg KCl ha−1 (H4). The results showed that the dominant soil properties affecting low productivity were soil texture dominated by sand and dust fractions at all sites ranging from 64-89%, soil clay content ranging from 11-36%. Soil C-organic content is very low to low (0.67-1.79%), N-total soil is very low to low (0.04-0.16%). Available K2O (Morgan) levels are generally low (4.29-10.12 ppm) except for Tanamodindi and Poboya. The results of field experiments showed that the application of organic matter equivalent to 15 tons of ha−1 resulted in a fresh tuber weight of 10.94 tons ha−1 (O2), markedly higher than that of giving 10 tons of ha−1 which results in a fresh tuber weight of 9.67 tons ha−1 (O1). The use of KCl fertilizer at a dose of 200 kg ha−1 resulted in a fresh tuber weight of 12.35 tons ha−1 (H4), markedly higher than 100 kg KCl ha−1 (H3). 72 kg S ha−1 (H2) and 48 kg KCl ha−1 (H1).
