Onion ( Alliumwakegi Araki) is a popular herb and vegetable commodity that can be used as a flavoring dish or traditional medicine. This study aims to determine the effect of light intensity for callus growth. This research was conducted at Plant Biotechnology Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Tadulako University using Completely Random Design (RAL) with a single factor that is light intensity (A) consisting of 3 levels, i.e., 0-100 lux (A1), 300-800 lux (A2) and 1000-4000 lux (A3). The results showed that the onion cultured on the light intensity 1000-4000 lux accelerated the formation of onion callus varieties of lembahpalu. This callus began to form at 13.17 days after cultured. The light intensity 300-800 lux accelerated callus formation at a high percentage and embryonic callus cells. The percentage of callus formation reached 32.46%, resulting callus color was white up to 4 WAC (Week After Culture). The average color of white callus was found on 4 WAK with the average texture of crumb callus, while at the 6th and 8th WAC the color of callus was yellow.

Shallot is one of the tuber crops used in human life worldwide. Lembah Palu variety of shallot (LPVS) is the best raw material for the fried shallot industry. The main problem is that tubers have no standard harvest age and storage duration to support these plants' germination and early growth. Therefore, shallots' growth and productivity are influenced by tubers' viability and vigor. This study aimed to investigate the harvest age and storage duration to give the best viability and vigor of shallot tubers. This research was arranged in a randomized complete block design (RCBD) factorial and three replications. The first factor was the harvest age of shallots, which consisted of four levels: 60, 65, 70, and 75 days after planting (DAP). The second factor was the storage duration of tubers, which consisted of four levels: 30, 40, 50, and 60 days after harvest (DAH). The harvesting age of 60-65 DAP significantly affected the parameter of germination power, tuber weight loss, and seedling dry weight. Likewise, the storage duration significantly affected the parameter of germination time, germination rate, tuber weight loss, and seedling dry weight. These research findings show that the harvest age of 60-65 DAP and the storage duration of 30 DAH give the best viability and vigor of shallot tuber. Therefore, we suggest that it is necessary to pay attention to tubers' harvest age and storage duration to find their maximal growth and yield of shallots.

Selection and evaluation of the progress of crosses is important to obtain the percentage change and success of crosses. This study aims to evaluate the percentage change in carnelian color up to the F4 generation and the selection progress in the F4 generation. The research was conducted from August 2017 to August 2020 in Kalukubula village, Sigi Regency, Palu, Central Sulawesi Province. This study was structured using a randomized block design with five carnelian color treatments that were repeated five times. This study used a mass selection method by selecting the carnel color according to the treatment (purple, yellow, white, purple dominant yellow and white dominant purple). Each treatment was planted in one plot for each generation. The seeds were planted using an isolation time of 21 DAS. The results showed that there were three color carnelian characters that experienced an increase in the percentage of color up to the F4 generation, namely Purple (27.68% -70.39%), White Dominant Purple (1.52% -16.91%) and White (5.40% -91.22%), and There are two carnelian color characters that experience a decrease in the percentage of color in the F4 generation, namely Yellow (68.14% -64.31%) and Purple Dominant Yellow (27.00%-5.22%). The character of purple, white, dominant purple and white carnelian color had a significant increase in heritability values ​​in the F4 population, and had an expected genetic progression value (36.94%, 17.56%, 53.55%) and positive selection progress in the F4 generation.

This research aims to study the effect of applying various seaweed extract concentrations on mustard greens growth and yield (Brassica juncea L.). The study was conducted at the Faculty of Agriculture Screen House, University Tadulako Palu, and arranged using a randomized block design (RBD) with six treatments. These were, without seaweed extract (E0), as well as 20% (E1), 40% (E2), 60% (E3), 80% (E4), and 100% (E5) seaweed extract concentration. The experiment was repeated four times, thus, there were 24 experimental units. Subsequently, the data obtained were analyzed using analysis of variance, followed by Honest Real Difference at level 5%. The results showed seaweed extract with different concentrations significantly influenced plant height, leaf number, leaf area, fresh weight, and dry weight.
