Resumo: O objetivo desse trabalho foi analisar como os preços agrícolas e as políticas públicas afetaram o desmatamento nos estados da Amazônia Legal brasileira no período de 1999 a 2011. Para esse fim, foram utilizados dados estaduais em um modelo de dados em painel e uma metodologia de análise de efeitos líquidos de políticas sobre o desmatamento. Os resultados indicam que o desmatamento está mais relacionado aos preços agrícolas do que às variáveis de políticas associados ao crédito rural e gastos com transporte e agricultura. Entretanto, os resultados parecem indicar que políticas recentes de fiscalização mais focadas, como embargos de comercialização de áreas desmatadas ilegalmente e restrição de crédito para áreas irregulares ou que não cumprem a legislação ambiental, podem ter sido mais efetivas para a redução do desmatamento no estado de Mato Grosso. Sendo assim, concluiu-se que o desmatamento na Amazônia Legal é influenciado tanto pela variação dos preços agrícolas quanto pelas políticas governamentais. Environmental Public Expenses: An Integrative Literature Review and Future Research Agenda

Several studies analysed the environmental public expenditures, its allocation and role as an instrument for public action. However, there is still a gap in the literature, since there are no works that integrate and systematize the existing knowledge. Therefore, we conducted an integrative literature review, and selected thirty articles for synthesis, classification and coding based on a system proposed by the authors. We identified that researches on this field are still recent and publications are concentrated in Europe and Latin America. Regarding the research methods, the qualitative approach based on case studies was used to develop the majority of the studies. Also, the studies in general combined different spheres of analysis, discussing topics on performance and description of expenses. The results showed that there is a need for studies that promote themes such as transparency, accounting organization and the creation of indicators, enabling deeper analysis. An agenda with eight research suggestions was proposed based on observed theoretical limitations.

Serological evidence of Eastern equine encephalitis circulation in equids in Pará state, Brazil

Serum samples from 89 equids were analyzed (75 horses, 9 donkeys, and 5 mules) from the municipality of Viseu, Pará state, Brazil. Samples were collected in November 2014 and August 2015. The antibody prevalence against the following alphaviruses was estimated: Eastern equine encephalitis virus, Western equine encephalitis virus, Mucambo virus, and Mayaro virus. Seroprevalence was determined by the hemagglutination inhibition (HI) technique. Sera that exhibited HI antibodies with heterotypic reactions for the analyzed viruses were subjected to the 90% plaque reduction neutralization test (PRNT 90 ). The HI prevalence of monotypic reactions to EEEV was 7.9%, and that of WEEV was 1.1%, as confirmed by PRNT 90 . Viral isolation attempts were negative for all tested blood samples. Our results suggest the circulation of equine encephalitis complex viruses. Future studies should evaluate the possible involvement of arthropod hosts and residents in the viral transmission in the study area.
