New effective aid for teaching technology subjects: 3D spherical panoramas joined with virtual reality

Abstract: Rapid development of modern technology and its increasing complexity make high demands to the quality of training of its users. Among others, an important class is vehicles, both civil and military. In the teaching of associated subjects, the accepted hierarchy of teaching aids includes common visual aids (posters, videos, scale models etc.) on the first stage, followed by simulators ranging in complexity, and finished at real vehicles. It allows achieving some balance between cost and efficiency by partial re… Show more

“…The use of VR simulators began relatively recently, but has already accumulated significant material for research. Thus, an analysis of the literature on recent experimental data suggests that virtual reality can ensure students' motivation and engagement, and provide higher-quality learning [1,3,8,10,18,22,23,27,28,37,39,43].…”

“…Classification of directions of using of augmented reality in education and practice of using AR applications are given in the publications (Ranok, 2020;Yuen et al, 2011). The analysis of the papers shows that AR is implemented to different disciplines of elementary and secondary school (Coimbra et al, 2015;Matsokin and Pakhomova, 2020;Matviienko, 2015; and in the higher education institutions (Barkatov et al, 2020;Klochko et al, 2020;Lavrentieva et al, 2019. These and many other researchers have found that AR technologies increase the level of success and motivation of pupils and students (Gutierrez and Fernandez, 2014;Kesim and Ozarslan, 2012).…”
