“…However, we have found only one study reporting the ROC analysis of a blood-based biomarker, which revealed that the AUC indicating the ability of the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio to distinguish patients with POAG from controls was 0.651, with a sensitivity of 65% and a specificity of 65%. 44 In our study, we found that hsa-miR-210-3p is more effective in differentiating between POAG patients and matched controls, with an AUC of 0.846 (sensitivity: 84.6%; specificity: 80.8%) and 0.813 (sensitivity: 84.8%; specificity: 69.7%) in the screening and validation sets, respectively. The methodology used in our study is also unsurpassed in the POAG biomarker field.…”

“…[11] Oküler hastalıklar sistemik inflamasyondan ziyade lokal bir inflamatuar yanıta neden olmasına rağmen NLO'nun yaşa bağlı makular dejenerasyon, retinal ven tıkanıklığı, non-arteritik anterior iskemik optik nöropati, vernal keratokonjonktivit, kuru göz ve primer açık açılı glokom gibi çeşitli göz hastalıklarında ilişkili olduğu saptanmış-tır. [25][26][27][28][29][30][31] NLO'nun lokal inflamatuar hastalıklarda anlamlı olabilmesi için sistemik kan parametrelerinde değişiklik yapması gerekir. TO'deki inflamasyon aslında sistemik inflamasyonun bir sonucudur ve kan parametrelerini değiştirebilir.…”

“…Subsequently, the second study assessed the levels of NLR in patients with pseudoexfoliation syndrome (PEX), pseudoexfoliation glaucoma (PXG) and healthy controls. NLR was found to be higher in both, PEX and PXG groups; therefore, NLR may be useful for predicting the prognosis of PEX patients and progression to PXG (26).…”

“…Two consecutive researches about glaucoma and NLR were reported more recently (25,26). In the fi rst study, the authors evaluated the NLR levels in patients with primary open-angle glaucoma and they found a signifi cant difference in NLR levels between POAG and control groups (25).…”
