Show more

“…Some morphological studies were performed using wild animals died by natural deaths or car hitting (Barisson et al 2012, Souza Junior et al 2014, Souza Junior et al 2016) The description of the species' internal morphology demands animal euthanasia, which, by its vulnerability, can only be performed under license from the Brazilian Institute of Environment and Renewable Natural Resources -IBAMA.…”

“…The good performance of these mechanisms as well as the anatomical integrity of laryngeal cartilages is necessary for its normal functioning. The cartilages present in the larynx are different in number and shape in the domestic and wild species (Aravena et al, , Bertassoli et al, , Hare, ; Oliveira et al, , Silva et al, ; Souza Júnior, Carvalho, Mattos, Anjos, & Santos, ).…”

“…According to Souza Júnior et al (), the function of the corniculate process in arytenoid cartilage is to prevent bronchoaspiration of bulky and liquid food particles. In a study of animals such as the coati (Oliveira et al, ), the rat (Duarte, Faria, Ceolin, Cestari, & Assis, ), the dog (Aravena et al, ), and the opossum (Bertassoli et al, ), the arytenoid has the apex projected dorsally.…”
