Mechanical and aesthetics compatibility of Brazilian red propolis micellar nanocomposite as a cavity cleaning agent

Abstract: BackgroundPropolis is a natural substance produced by bees and is known to have antimicrobial activity. Our aim was to evaluate the antimicrobial effect of micellar nanocomposites loaded with an ethyl acetate extract of Brazilian red propolis as a cavity cleaning agent and its influence on the color and microtensile bond strength (μTBS) of the dentin/resin interface.MethodsAn ultra-performance liquid chromatography coupled with a diode array detector (UPLC-DAD) assay was used to determine the flavonoids and is… Show more

“…Biosynthesis plays an important role in the synthesis of pinocembrin owing to its high yield and low production cost. In terms of pharmacological effects, pinocembrin can exhibit anti-inflammatory [5], anti-oxidant [6], antibacterial [7] and neuroprotective activities [8]. Research has shown that pinocembrin exhibits a positive effect on the treatment of ischemic stroke.…”

“…BRP has potent antimicrobial activity even at the concentration of 0.1%, with antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory activity proven in vitro and in vivo. is is due to the high concentration of flavonoids and phenolic compounds [14,16]. e group treated with propolis at 1% concentration in this study presented better clinical and microbiological results when compared with commercial toothpaste.…”

“…The biofilm model in this study validates its effect for decontamination of dental prostheses, without contact with the oral mucosa. It is still necessary to carry out new studies using different concentrations of the product and with a longer exposure time to evaluate the effect on the color change on the surfaces of dental prostheses ( 29 ).…”
