Marmoricola korecus sp. nov.

Abstract: A novel actinomycete, designated strain Sco-A36 T , was isolated from volcanic ash. Cells were aerobic, Gram-stain-positive, oxidase-negative, catalase-positive, non-motile cocci; colonies were yellow-coloured, smooth, entire and convex. Phylogenetic analysis showed that the organism formed a distinct phyletic line within the radiation of the genus Marmoricola. Its closest phylogenetic neighbours were Marmoricola aurantiacus DSM 12652 T (97.9 % 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity), Marmoricola scoriae Sco-D01 T … Show more

“…A bioactive compound, xiamycin D isolated from Streptomyces sp (#HK18) culture inhabiting the topsoil in a Korean solar saltern was tested for antiviral activity against porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV) and results showed that xiamycin D had the strongest inhibitory effect on PEDV replication (13). Methylelaiophylin, an antiviral compound isolated from Streptomyces melanosporofaciens showed antiviral activity against Newcastle disease virus (NDV) (14).…”

“…In "Djendli" sebkha, there are three genera: Marmoricola, Phytoactinopolyspora, Streptomyces, and an unclassified actinobacterium (DJ77). Most clones are uncultured (over 70%).The genus Marmoricola comes from several places in the world such as the agricultural (M. pocheoensis) and forest soils (Dastager et al 2008;Lee et al 2016), the marine environment (Maszenan et al 1999), marble (Urzì et al 2000), and volcanic ashes (Lee et al 2011). The genus Phytoactinopolyspora was recently discovered in China.…”

“…the polar lipid profile of strain MUSC 201 T contained a phosphoglycolipid and a glycolipid that was not detected in any of the other genera. For the fatty acids profile, strain MUSC 201 T was significantly different from Prauser, 1976;O'Donnell et al, 1982;Collins et al, 1989;Tamura & Yokota, 1994;Park et al, 1999;Dastager et al, 2009;Cho et al, 2010); 3, Aeromicrobium (Miller et al, 1991;Tamura & Yokota, 1994;Kim et al, 2010); 4, Marmoricola (Urzì et al, 2000;Dastager et al, 2008;Lee et al, 2011). DPG, diphosphatidylglycerol; GL, glycolipid; PG, phosphatidylglycerol; PGL, phosphoglycolipid; PI, phosphatidylinositol; PIM, phosphatidylinositol mannoside; PC, phosphatidylcholine; PL, unknown phospholipid.…”
