This article reveals the changes in form and style of the Randai performance performed by the Minangkabau’s diaspora in Malaysia. The novelty of this research is the study of changes in forms and styles in Randai carried out by the Malaysian Minangkabau diaspora. The disconnection of socio-cultural communication and the long distance between Minangkabau and Peninsular Malaysia impacts the shift in forms and styles of Randai in the Minangkabau diaspora. This research was conducted qualitatively by designing research works such as pre-field studies, by collecting preliminary data based on a diffusion approach. In the field stage, the informants were selected by snowball sampling. The interview and observation instruments were designed based on the performance structure and performance procedures. Researchers conducted data analysis using the techniques recommended by Spradley, namely: (1) domain analysis, (2) taxonomic analysis, (3) componential analysis, and (4) discovering cultural themes. The study results revealed that the forms and styles were caused by mixing cultures between the diaspora and the Malaysian Malays. These changes were done so that the local community could accept Randai. In addition, Randai can be easily learned and cultivated by the Malay Malays and easily expressed by the Malaysian community and the Minangkabau diaspora as the perpetrators of Randai. These changes occur through a process of adaptation and acculturation. The implication of this research is the emergence of a new Randai model, namely Randai, which refers to local culture, both from the aspect of the story, Silat style, and music, as an identity and tradition for the Malaysian Minangkabau diaspora for the future.

Local knowledge (LK) is unique knowledge that is confined to a specific culture or society. LK is transferred to the community to preserve a community's cultural knowledge and practices. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the challenges in managing Local Knowledge Transfer (LKT) among the Minangkabau Community (MC) in the Agam district of Indonesia. The study employs a quantitative survey design of open ended questions from 384 respondents. The data were analysed using the thematic analysis approach. The thematic analysis reveals four primary themes that depict the challenges of managing LKT (1) society itself (person, family, and leaders), (2) education, (3) modernization, and (4) and information storage media. Recommendations from respondents regarding the challenges in the transfer of LK are (1) the development of education-based customary areas, (2) making the younger generation agents of change in civilization, (3) creating a model transfer for LK, (4) LK is conveyed through social activities, traditional ceremonies, and various other activities, and (4) utilizing technology in the process of transferring LK.

The benefits of studying history, in addition to remembering the past, are also valuable lessons for future generations. Throughout history, the younger generation knows the cultural treasures of the nation so that they can preserve them. One of the original arts belonging to West Kalimantan is the traditional theater mendu. This theater was successful at the beginning of its emergence (1876 AD) until the Japanese colonial era. After that, it was dim because society was forbidden by Japan to gather and associate. Mendu was bloated again and became the belle of the '80s which was driven by the maestro Sataruddin Ramli (1948 -2015). However, this particular art of West Kalimantan is now only a memory. This research aims to describe the golden age of West Kalimantan's traditional theater. The method used is a descriptive qualitative form with a literature study approach. The results of the study describe (1) the glory period from the beginning of the emergence of the mendu to the Japanese occupation (1876 -1942), (2) the traditional theater of the mendu became the belle of the community (the 1980s -2000s). Factors that cause the mendu golden period include because in the past the world of entertainment was not yet sophisticated and modern, the characteristics of the traditional and simple community, the story that was served favored by the community at that time, the participation of the Regional Government of West Kalimantan, as well as coaching was held for the younger generation. AbstrakManfaat mempelajari sejarah, selain mengenang masa lalu, juga sebagai pelajaran berharga bagi generasi mendatang. Melalui sejarah, generasi muda mengetahui khazanah budaya yang dimiliki bangsanya sehingga dapat melestarikannya. Salah satu kesenian asli milik Kalimantan Barat adalah teater tradisional mendu. Teater ini pernah berjaya pada awal kemunculannya (1876 M) hingga zaman penjajahan Jepang. Setelah itu redup karena masyarakat dilarang oleh Jepang untuk berkumpul dan berserikat. Mendu bengkit kembali dan menjadi primadona sekitar tahun 80-an yang dimotori oleh sang maestro Sataruddin Ramli (1948 -2015). Namun, kesenian khas Kalimantan Barat ini sekarang hanya tinggal kenangan. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan masa keemasan teater tradisional mendu Kalimantan Barat. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif berbentuk kualitataif dengan pendekatan studi kepustakaan. Hasil penelitian mendeskripsikan (1) masa kejayaan dari awal kemunculan mendu hingga penjajahan Jepang (1876 -1942), (2) masa teater tradisonal mendu menjadi primadona di masyarakat (1980an -2000an).
