The purpose of science and technology activities for the Society (IbM) is to solve problems in the school library by providing understanding and management of libraries to library officer or teachers placed in the library to be able to manage the school library based on information technology in accordance with established standards. In this activity, it will solve the problem completely from conceptual understanding and conducting school library management practices based on information technology with the implementation of library automation system using Senayan Library Management System (SLiMS) and socialization of information literacy in the school library.The method offered to solve the problem of school library management based on information technology is the training is used lecturing method, question and answer, group discussion, and practice. Then this is followed by information socialization activities information technology-based information for all school members. Training activities accomplished properly according to the expected objectives of the program. This activity received a positive response from various parties and trainees can apply the use of SLiMS software in school library management. From the socialization activities for information literacy performed by involving all elements schools can increase their citizens' understanding of various sources of information that can be utilized. So hopefully the school library can provide better service and the existence of school libraries will contribute significantly to the society. Metode ditawarkan untuk memecahkan masalah pengelolaan perpustakaan sekolah berbasis teknologi informasi yaitu pelatihan digunakan metode ceramah, tanya jawab, diskusi kelompok, dan praktik. The purposes of this study are: (1) to know the ratings of the most cited authors, (2) to determine what means of bibliography was cited most frequently, (3) to know what subject is often cited and, (4) to know the obsolescence of the cited literature in the undergraduate theses written by students of Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program. The research method used a quantitative approach through bibliometric analysis to determine the characteristics of the papers with citation analysis. The results are (1) the author that is most widely cited is M. Atar Semi, and the top 5 authors that are widely cited are M. Atar Semi, Gorys Keraf, Hendry Guntur Tarigan, Suharsimi Arikunto, and Abdurahman; (2) book (80.24%) is a type of literatures that are most widely cited in the theses; (3) the most favorite subject of the theses is "effective sentences"and, (4) the publication time of literature cited in the theses is 21.4 years. This research discusses the level of information literacy of student of Universitas Negeri Padang using The Big 6 Model. This research uses explanative method which aimed to explain why events occur, and to build and develop theories or concepts. The data obtained by directly distributing questionnaires. Data analysis is conducted to answer the research problem. The data collected was simplified, processed then presented by calculating the student information literacy level score. The data was processed in tabular form so it's easy to read and present. The interpretation done to look for broader meanings and implications of the data displayed. The data that has been calculated and grouped in a table was presented descriptively into statement sentences that describe the data clearly. The Researchers found that the level of student information literacy is in low level, the student's knowledge about information literacy activities is still not good. Many students still do not understand the ethics and stages to find information. These problems cause the students of being wrong in obtaining and using information. In addition, in the evaluation activities there are not many students sort the level of usefulness of information needed, students only search for information and take the information without reading and understanding it in advance before using it. So, the results obtained can be concluded that students still do not understand the actual information literacy ability and students are still classified as students with low information literacy skills.
In this paper the language about Millennial Generation Information Search Behavior To Meet Information Needs. This study aims to describe the information seeking behavior of the millennial generation to meet the information needs of this study at the Padang State University. Data were collected through observation and distribution of questionnaires with students of the Indonesian and Regional Languages and Literature Department at Padang State University. Analyzing the data, concluded the following matters. (1). Starting - consists of activities that initiate information seeking activities. In general (100%) determine the topic especially before conducting an information search, in general (90%) conduct information search after discussion or consultation with lecturers, in general (95.23%) know the information needs when attending lectures, (88.4 %) know the information needs specifically, and in general (88%) do information when they are aware of and know the need for information. (2). Chaining - activities following a series of citations, citations or forms of reconciliation between documents with each other. In general (92.8 uses a bibliography to search information, generally (90.4%) use the author's name from the core reference to look for other references in conducting information searches, and in general (92.9%) use subjects from core reference to look for other references (3) Browsing - merawak, looking for, but rather directed, in areas that are considered to have the potential for the information needed.In general (73%) libraries can always meet information needs, in general In general (95.2%) look for information on the internet if the information you are looking for is not found in the printed source of information, (92.8%) generally directly looking for information on the internet if the information you need is not found in the printed source of information, at generally (45.22%) query identification (keywords). (4). Differentiating - sorting, using the features in the information source as a basic reference for checking quality or information content. in general (88%) the internet is the main source of information, in general (92.84%) The source of information printed is still very much needed in fulfilling information needs. (5). Monitoring - monitoring progress by focusing on selected sources. In general (88.09%) looked for the latest information through the internet by searching for the latest articles, in general (78.56%) needed to find the latest information to enrich the reference sources. (6). Extracting - systematically digging in one source to retrieve information that is considered important. In general (90.47 when you need information you often search the search engine (google, yahoo), in general (88.09 often uses a journal database to get information, in general (78.56%) after getting information on the internet , you directly copy the information, in general (76.19%) use the "Google" search engine because it is more relevant than other search engines.Keywords: behavior, millennial generation and information.
This study aims to describe: (1) writers’ quotation in Jurnal “Suluah” published by Balai Pelestarian Sejarah dan Nilai Tradisional Padang, (2) characteristics of literatures quoted by writers, and (3) authorship pattern. Quotation analysis method is used to study the relation between quoting documents and the documents quoted. The object of this study is the publications in Jurnal Suluah in 2001-2-12.The research finds that: (1) writers’ quotation pattern based on article contribution and the number of quotations in articles is 155 articles and 1607 quotations. In average, one article quotes ten documents from various forms of sources. (2) Characteristics of literatures quoted by writers based on genre, year, and age of literatures are as follows: (a) the most contributing document in article writing is book, achieving 1316 quotations; (b) the year span of documents quoted is from 1827 to 2010; and (c) the age of the most cited documents is those published in the last ten years (2001-2010) as much as 35%; (c) the pattern of authorship is that the most cited writer is Koentjaraningrat with 37 citations. The rate of collaborations of the author is very low, because 97% of articles are written by a single author and only 3% are multiple authors.Keywords: scientific articles quotation, Minangkabau study, Jurnal Suluah
