Show more

“…In relation to high frequencies, only the mean threshold of the frequency at 9000 Hz in the right ear was worse in the studied group when compared to the control group, similarly to a formerly mentioned study (25) . From what has been mentioned, it is perceived that hearing loss due to loud music exposure has been occurring in musicians and music students, musicians from orchestras and other musical groups at different age groups.…”

“…By analyzing hearing from 50 musicians of a military band in Brazil, a study (25) also found higher auditory thresholds than 25 dBHL, at 3000 Hz, and/or 4000 Hz, and/or 6000 Hz in 32% of the musicians.…”

“…[ 1 2 3 4 5 6 ] A specific population at risk is professional musicians, and some evidence indicates that professional musicians incur a significant hearing loss. [ 7 8 9 ] However, other studies have not found significant hearing loss in musicians. [ 10 11 ] Given these conflicting results, an initial question to ask is whether musicians experience overexposure.…”

“…14 Studies show that high-frequency audiometry is an important tool in the investigation of the basal cochlear response as well as an instrument that helps in the early diagnosis of NIHL. 15 16 17 18 Research using high-frequency audiometry has suggested that with increasing noise exposure and age on dentists, there is a decrease in auditory thresholds. 9 19 20 21 …”
