Kaempferol attenuates acute lung injury in caecal ligation and puncture model of sepsis in mice

Abstract: The study suggests that kaempferol showed attenuation in sepsis-induced acute lung injury in mice through suppression of oxidative stress, iNOS, and ICAM-1 pathways.

“…Another study found that kaempferol also inhibited H9N2 virus-induced ALI through inhibiting TLR4/MyD88-mediated NF-κB and MAPKs pathways [ 125 ]. What’s more, in an ALI murine model induced by CLP, kaempferol exhibited inhibitory effects via suppression of ICAM-1 pathways [ 126 ].…”

“…Kaempferol increased SOD and catalase and non-enzymatic antioxidant glutathione (GSH) activities in septic mice. Additionally, kaempferol reduced the lung tissue nitrite level and iNOS level and down regulated mRNA expression of intercellular adhesion molecule 1 (ICAM-1) and iNOS in septic mice (Rabha et al 2018). Intraperitoneal administration of kaempferol (50 mg/kg) 30 min before challenging the mice with LPS reduced LPS-mediated production of cytokines including; IL-1b, TNF-a, IL-6.…”

“…In our study, while CRP increased significantly in the group with sepsis, it decreased in the group given prophylactic B. clausii. Rabha et al [21] treated rats with an agent called Kaempferol in their study of experimental sepsis. MDA and eNOS levels in the sepsis group were found to be low in the treatment groups and the agent was effective in the treatment.…”
